- Betula103Australia7,903 contributionsPopular venueThis 'The House of Music' is in the area alongside the Catholic church. There is a bar and restaurant with a stage opposite it. Higher up there is another larger area with both larger stage and dance area. During the day you can just walk in however in the evening the area was roped off and there was a cover charge to enter. It is in the historic centre of the town.Visited January 2020Written February 26, 2020
- MoniChicago, Illinois632 contributionsLive music and dancingWe spent a very nice and pleasant afternoon at this venue the day we arrived in Trinidad. It was perfect because we could just sit down, have cocktails, and enjoy the live Cuban music/salsa, and watch people of all ages dance salsa. There are local salsa teachers that offer you private lessons from around 6:30pm. I forgot the name of the teacher but he was extremely good at teaching, starting from the basics and gradually advancing. He wasn’t just trying to give us a fun time but also actually teaching us important basics. His lesson was only 10 CUC an hour!Visited January 2020Traveled with friendsWritten January 12, 2020
- Linda M110 contributionsBest Times In Trinidad, CubaCentrally located on the Plaza Mayor is La Casa De La Musica. What else to do in the Trinidad than to hangout at La Musica for some live music and Salsa dancing. It was so worth the time. The band played music for different genres, however, the highlight of the night was listening to and dancing to Salsa and some Rumba. I will definitely recommend this place.Visited February 2020Traveled soloWritten March 5, 2020

- Parker GCalgary, Canada7 contributionsOverpriced tourist trapAt night when there is a band playing, good luck getting a table where you can see the stage. As the bar is on a set of stairs, if you're below the stage (which most tables are), you won't see a thing. Better off sitting outside the makeshift fence at the bottom of the stairs where servers from other bars around the plaza will bring cheap but very good drinks over to you while you listen to the music. We went back in the daytime to say we got a drink from there, but was quite disappointed with the mojito's.Visited March 2023Written March 19, 2023
- PreetiVienna, Virginia54 contributionsWonderful Salsa lessonsWe had the most wonderful Salsa teachers Eliani & Osveli. Our tour company Wijincuba had arranged for a 1 hour salsa lesson in Trinidad. We were a little apprehensive to do it since none of us really danced. But Eliani and Osveli made us very comfortable and it was a lot of fun. Our teenagers really enjoyed it a lot. It was a new experience but definitely a memorable one.Visited December 2022Written January 4, 2023

In daytime you can sit here and drink coffee or beer or something else and surf in internet (yes, here is internet spot!). You can listen to live music here also in the daytime for free. In the evening entrance costs 1or2 cuc pp. For me this place seemed more to have a drink and listen to music, to dance I will recommend another place. For example Casa de la Trova.Visited March 2019Traveled as a coupleWritten July 28, 2019
- Traveller XDubai, United Arab Emirates94 contributionsGood vibes in open airAnother great place to hang out in Trinidad, used to be free during the week and only charged at weekends, but now charges every day. 1 CUC cover charge. Music tend to be good but can sometimes be disappointing, I like that it tends to also showcase the African side of Cuba with alternating bands. Be Careful not to be overcharged for the drinks, as some waiters seem to inflate the prices during the night, our Beers went from 1.25 during the day to 2.50 in the evening so make sure you are on the ball....Visited May 2019Traveled as a coupleWritten June 1, 2019

This Casa de la Música is more than just a restaurant. It's the place where everybody meets in the evenings. Nice shows, live music every evening and Salsa for all who want to dance! And if you want mire you can continue after at the disco at the top or at the cave. Don't miss this main place during you visit of Trinidad. It shows the life of Trinidad, which highly depends on all the tourists.

Decidedly the best thing to do in Trinidad is Casa de la Musica. Local bands, local people and of course lots of tourists.
If you go in the afternoon their are fewer people and no cover charge making it a great place to chill and enjoy a Mojito or Cuba Libre ...or three.
After enjoying the afternoon music we returned later in the evening -- a bit of a zoo. I recommend the afternoon; unless it's a zoo atmosphere you're after.

Like all the reviews, but I can't see times specified. When people say 'get there early', when does it all get going? We're actually going to be arriving on a Sunday afternoon around 4 on the Viazul bus (if it's on time!) so we wanted to get settled into our place at La Boca first before coming back into town. As we'll only be in town for three nights it seemed that it was worth the effort to double back into Trinidad that evening rather than relax after all that time on a bus, as a number of the reviews say that Sunday is the best time to attend for the music in the square - I figure Monday and Tuesday nights will be tame by comparison.

My best night in Cuba included a visit to Casa de la Musica last week. I only had one night in Trinidad and I met great musicians, singers, dancers and salsa lovers in that very short amount of time. Wished I could have stayed longer! I danced with a French man who has been living in Trinidad for 3 months and has 7 more weeks to go. Like Cinderella, he must have turned into a pumpkin, as he disappeared without saying goodbye, and I'm still very puzzled... Is it possible to get in touch with him via Casa de la Música? Local musicians and bouncers know him well (Noel, el francés). Any tip to contact him would be most appreciated. Una mexicana (K..r..y) living in New York.
