Great childhood holidays here back when it was ok to paddle off, swim, hike and have fun without parents. Fun and all for free and all gifted by nature. The seafood seems twice the size as everywhere else and twice as abundant. Despite seemingly isolated you are not, there's plenty of traffic and neighbours that visit all by boat, yacht... More

We sailed into Picton on a Christmas cruise with Royal Carribean in 2015. Lovely postcard perfect water features all around and a pretty seaside town centre to go with it. We kayaked the Sound in the afternoon and sampled the local fare to make for a great day out. Too bad the cruise ship had to sail late afternoon. We... More

Marlborough Sounds I think is the 8th wonder of the world.Either driving Queens Charlotte Dr, or going by boat, simply spectacular.

Having family living in Marlborough Sounds means we visit there often. It's my favourite place in New Zealand and worth visiting. Weather your sight seeing, fishing, boating or just a relaxing holiday it perfect. It was a wet day on June 2016 and we are here for 10 days. Beautiful even when raining. Got to be seen to be appreciated.... More

There are many ways you can appreciate and enjoy the Queen Charlotte Sound, starting with Picton and the look out just a few hundred metres up the Queen Charlotte Drive. This lookout gives you a perfect birds eye view over the busy port, watch a ferry come in and turn to reverse into its berth or follow small water taxis... More

Everyone should enjoy this part of New Zealand. Drive the Queens Charlotte Drive, best direction from Havelock to Picton ,as all the stops are on that side. Do the little loop walk at the look out close to Havelock. Have a picknick at one of the bays. Just enjoy. Be aware of sandflies

Definitely worth doing should you have the time and money, the bus drive up to Milford Sound from Queenstown is quite spectacular, with a couple of scenic stops along the way. Milford Sound is also gorgeous and the ferry ride is great, although the drive up to it is so fantastic that it slightly pales in comparison!

A fabulous four hours out on the Sounds. Weather started off well but it turned to rain but all was still good. Good commentary on the boat about the different places we saw - so interesting. Loved it.

Three and a half hour ferry journey from Wellington to Picton across and through the Marlborough sound. Great trip, wonderful scenery.

This was one of the most beautiful natural sites I have ever been to. We had a wonderful visit and hike in and around the Sounds. Can't wait to return!
