We did this tour from our Cruise ship. When arriving onto the platform for the 10:00 train it was all a bit chaotic. One individual gave out tickets but said sit where you want and that was an issue as not everyone heard him. So...More

A fantastic way to spend the day in Picton. The train has been restored and is very comfortable. The commentary given on the journey was very informative. The staff did a great job and were always ensuring everyones comfort and safety. The stop at Blenheim...More

Its a lovely old steam train but there is zero in the way of “tour guide”. It’s pretty much just pre booking a seat on the train. No signage as to where to go at Picton station, the allocated seating is a joke as some...More

We did this steam train ride as a shore excursion from our cruise ship. It was a great little journey to Blenheim and return. We spent a lovely few hours in Blenheim and there was wine tasting on the return journey. Lovely scenery.

What a fun train ride on this old steam engine. My husband and I had not planed an excursion and were pleasantly surprised to discover the 1915 Marlborough Flyer. We enjoyed the trip to and from Blenheim. People took pictures along the way as the...More

At around 50 minutes each way, the trip from Picton to Blenheim and back is a nice balance of long enough to be able to enjoy the train without being boring. A glass of local wine included in the trip increased our enjoyment. The scenery...More

We chose this tour while cruising NZ, as we like train journeys. It proved to be well worth it, and it travelled through interesting country. The engine has some history attached to it, and it was interesting to see that the engine doesn't turn around...More

Probably more of a smoke train than a steam train but that just adds to the experience. The train has been magnificently restored and run by a passionate bunch of volunteers. Lovely scenery and even a glass of complimentary Marlborough wine. Plenty of time in...More
