This was an excellent place to stay in the sounds. Right near the water. Families would enjoy it as there are lots of animals for the children to enjoy. Our room was very clean and nice with a balcony looking over the bay. The restaurant was excellent with very pleasant young staff and great food. My only reservation about the... More

What an awesome day out for a family. Absolutely spectacular setting! Lots for our young family to see and do. Our kids loved the animal feeding sessions and informative guide. The water taxi over was another highlight. Only downside was no baby change facility on site which is surprising as it is family friendly. A must visit for the Sounds... More

Lochmara lodge was a welcome rest day for us on our Queen Charlotte Track walk. Great quirky artwork and gardens. The room we had was lovely. The meals were exquisite. We loved our time here and highly recommend it.

The Lochmara lodge is along the Queen Charlotte Track but also a relatively short water taxi ride from Picton. The lodge had a lot of interesting art on the grounds, birds, animals but the highlight was the lovely beach and dining room and lounge.

Everyone who has a few days in picton must visit lochmara either for a meal or just to sit on the grass with a beer. Easy to get the water taxi over for about $30 return. The setting is amazing. Great for kids to swim and play in shallow water. If you feel energetic wander up track behind lodge.

I had heard all about it but never been. I have denied myself a wonderful day in paradise and will be back for sure. Relaxing, sunning, swimming, nature walks or just lounging in a hammock in the shade listening to bird song and dozing off. What better way to spend a day!!! If you have not been you have truly... We spent the afternoon at Lochmara and did the tour of the establishment visiting the pot bellied pigs, you have to meet Boris. Visit the feeding of the eels and feed the endangered parrots. for those that would like to indulge in kayaking there are kayaks to use on a first come first served basis, don't forget to take your...
