We started our Akaroa Harbour Nature Cruises back in 1985 and are the original cruise operators so we know the harbour pretty well. Along the way we've been named as the supreme tourism award winner and also hold the Enviro gold award from Qualmark to recognise our dedication to the environment.Your nature cruise will be on the 'Black Cat', a large modern and stable vessel allowing great views of all the scenery and wildlife including dolphins, seals and penguins. If by some chance you do not see dolphins then we will provide a ticket to come again another day. This happens on average 2% of the time across the whole year.We look forward to meeting you and giving you the best stories from the Akaroa Harbour.

Thank you for your lovely review. With the largest most luxurious boat in Akaroa our cruises do offer the most amount of space to relax and take in the sights from the 360 degree viewing platforms. The best way to take in the majestic volcanic...More

This was a pleasant trip but not quite up to expectations. I understand that the company have no power over the dolphins and on this occasion they were not very cooperative! We did get a partial refund so the company behaved correctly.More

Thank you for your review and understanding that we do not control the dolphins. As New Zealands first eco-tourism dolphin swim operator we ensure that every trip is run appropriately and although we encounter the Hector's dolphins on 98% of our trips we do have...More

We took a cruise around the harbour and were not disappointed as we saw the Hector dolphins shags and seals. The commentary during the trip was very informative.

We had a really enjoyable trip round the bay with this company. The commentary was excellent and although not many dolphins or seals were visible they made the trip interesting.

To dispel some of the reviews about this cruise being "underwhelming", there IS full disclosure by the company that there is about an 80% chance you will see dolphins at all. That said, my partner and I went on the dolphin swimming cruise last week...More

Great crew, nice boat (a bit too loud). We were lucky and saw many dolphins. All the gear you get is tip top. We can highly recommend this trip as the hector dolphin is a beautiful animal and the black cat cruises engage themselves actively...More
