Overview
More
We started our Akaroa Harbour Nature Cruises back in 1985 and are the original cruise operators so we know the harbour pretty well. Along the way we've been named as the supreme tourism award winner and also hold the Enviro gold award from Qualmark to recognise our dedication to the environment.Your nature cruise will be on the 'Black Cat', a large modern and stable vessel allowing great views of all the scenery and wildlife including dolphins, seals and penguins. If by some chance you do not see dolphins then we will provide a ticket to come again another day. This happens on average 2% of the time across the whole year.We look forward to meeting you and giving you the best stories from the Akaroa Harbour.

We were fortunate on our tour to experience great weather, calm crystal clear waters and saw the penguins, dolphins and the seals. The crew were fantastic, informative and helpful. This was a worthwhile experience and I am so glad we decided to book this trip.

I booked the Swimming with the Dolphins in Akaroa as a last-minute excursion before I flew back home to States...and I couldn't be happier that I did! Being able to swim with the Hector's dolphins in their natural habitat is truly the experience of a...More

We almost didn't do the cruise. I'm so glad we did. The tour guide (Julian) was so great. He let us into the cabin on the way back. We saw dolphins, seals and even a couple of penguins. What a fantastic experience!

Was awesome experience to swim with the dolphins, didn't take very long to find a pod and we were in the water with them for 30mins which is the maximum time they allow you to be in the water due to the temperature. 🖒More

Hi there, the maximum time in the water is up to 40 minutes which is what is permitted by the Department of Conservation in New Zealand who issue and govern the permits. As you swam during winter the crew would most likely have asked you...More

We decided to take our young children on this cruise last weekend. It is still cold winter weather but it didn't matter! We struck a cloudy day but apparently it's better for the dolphins. The boat cruise offered free coffee and tea with a cash...More
