The Lighthouse wasn't open the day we went there - it opens on cruise days and a couple of other days a week. It is interesting in that it's quite old. There is a good view back towards Akaroa. It may have been interesting to...More

Rescued by volunteers for a few bucks NZ you can look round and chat with the volunteers. Bit tight inside but really interesting keep kids fingers away from the mechanism!

We were lucky to visit the lighthouse when the volunteer was available to give us a tour and allow us up to the walkway below the light to get some nice views of the harbour. Good that it was saved and repositioned in town!

We enjoyed our visit to this sweet little lighthouse & taking plenty of family photos. It really does feel like something out of a story book.

Not sure about accessible - cruise ship visitors seem to have more appeal to the town than normal visitors , i.e only seems to be open when a cruise ship is in the harbour. Most of us like lighthouses but this wasn't more special than...More

This lighthouse has been moved to a position close to town and is open on Sundays and Cruise Ship days (most days in summer) from 11-2pm. Even when closed the location is worth the walk to get another view of the harbour and town. A...More

This lovely little lighthouse has been relocated to an inner part of the Akaroa Harbour after being moved from its original position. When the local community heard that the lighthouse was going to be pushed off the cliff they organised to have it moved to...More
