The Lighthouse wasn't open the day we went there - it opens on cruise days and a couple of other days a week. It is interesting in that it's quite old. There is a good view back towards Akaroa.

We were lucky to visit the lighthouse when the volunteer was available to give us a tour and allow us up to the walkway below the light to get some nice views of the harbour. Good that it was saved and repositioned in town!

Not sure about accessible - cruise ship visitors seem to have more appeal to the town than normal visitors , i.e only seems to be open when a cruise ship is in the harbour.
