The Lighthouse sits at the left end of the harbour road. The views from here change throughout the day and are beautiful. As has ben mentioned by other reviewers the opening hours vary so we were never able to get into the Lighthouse.

The lighthouse was just down the road after we'd done a walk in the park, so it was no brainer to go a bit closer. Despite it not being open, the male of our group managed a look around as a couple of curators were there. It's nice to see a lighthouse that isn't remote from everything.

Akaroa lighthouse is another relocated lighthouse - accessible by a short walk from the wharf. Brilliant idea to put these small, charming 19th century relics within our reach. Great place for a selfie if that is your thing; otherwise just enjoy.

If you take a nice walk along beach road, apart from the wonderful views of the bay you will eventually come across the lighthouse. Situated close to the yacht club and at the beach entrance to the Anglican Cemetery it sits proud looking out. In very good condition, well maintained but only open on sundays and when cruise ships enter. We visited on a friday so were unable to go inside.

This is such an icon for the area. It is a must stop for a photo.

Such great views of the harbour and of the lovely little lighthouse.

It is well worth the extended drive from the Akaroa township to view this wee one.

There are tours available if you were interested.

This is a good experience for very small cost. It’s just really difficult to find it open. There are very few opening hours so do your homework. The guided tour is very interesting. The views are pretty amazing. Easy access but no footpaths so be careful walking up the road.

If you are lucky enough to visit when it is open, you are in for a treat. I've been to Akaroa many times and that was the only time I've found it open. If you are a history buff, Akaroa is the place to visit if you are into a bit of research.

An interesting building, steeped in history, standing on the waterfront.Walk along to the lighthouse along the waterfront from the village and then take the track uphill through Tane's Garden for spectacular views.

The lighthouse is beautiful and sits in beautiful surroundings. Not far walk from the pier. Great for photos.

We stopped here spontaneously and decided to go in. It was $2.50 for adults. The volunteers took their time in explaining everything and answered all questions. Very interesting.
