Most people think of Cottesloe as the best beach spot, but Port Beach is just way better for swimming and beach chill out. There are no shops or attractions, just the now defunct Salt on the Beach which has become Coast (haven't been yet), and that offers coffee, drinks, lunch and dinner. But, back to the actual beach: Port Beach... More

Great place for families with young children and very calm... When weather is hot and nice, water is very still barely any waves.

Port Beach is popular with locals. The fine white sand is good for building sandcastles, The beach is popular with families. It's very close to the port of Fremantle. The water at the beach is relatively placid, though from time to time when the surf's up the water is good for surfing. The nearest train station is North Fremantle, which... More

My Mum used to take me here when I was a little kid. Must be 1 of the calmest beaches on the Perth coast. Great for young families and for that matter, anyone. Car park, kiosk and restaurant handy. Not sure about buses. Taxis available. Kiosk prices are slightly more expensive but that is expected. Have fun :)

Great beach north of Fremantle Harbour, usually fairly sheltered and not too much swell. Easy to find a good spot, parking is good but an easy walk or cycle from North or East Fremantle. Don't be put off by the cranes, shipping containers and occasional truck ! All part of the ever-changing rich tapestry that is Fremantle !!

As a child, we almost always went to Port Beach. The sand is soft and the water is turquoise. Waves are gentle, enough for a bit of fun with a body-board but not enough to threaten children You can see Rottnest Island, -- Perth's holiday island -- on the horizon. The beach is near the port of Fremantle, as the... More

We live in Perth and Port is our favorite beach, soft waves, beautiful coloured waters and safe swimming beyond the waves. The waves are big enough for some bodyboarding for kids but not too intimidating for little ones. Yes there is some industry in the background but it's easy to ignore
