The ferry can be expensive so look for coupons online or in brochures. About 30 minutes from Fremantle wasn't overly rough ride. Rottnest island is kind of a nature preserve with Quakkas the main attraction. If you are like us and hadn't heard of quakkas, let alone see them, then check do a search online before going. As one walks... More

I took the ferry from Perth with a stop in Freemantle. Loved the trip over, lots to photograph. Loved Rottnest Island except for the flies - it was a hot day with little wind. I particularly wanted to see the quokkas. I joined a short walking tour and saw many. Enjoyed the bus ride round the island seeing the beautiful... More

We always choose to go with these guys to Rottnest, all runs like clockwork. Cheaper to buy tickets online the night before or even earlier in school holidays. Look for a 10% off code in the little booklet u see in tourist places called Hello Perth. If you're an auto member of RAC you can buy a 30% off voucher.

Expensive to get there but its a must do. We got the package for a family of 4 with the bikes. It was a lovely trip over on the top sitting in the sunshine (back of boat) no one got sea sick which was great and a relief as its happened before on other boat trips so we were a... More

After travelling a long way, we were looking forward to a day on Rottnest Island. The ferry service was great- prompt, fast and the staff were very friendly (although be warned- it is not cheap). We hired our bikes through Rottnest Express, so all the bikes were out on the jetty when we arrived. Unfortunately in our group of 10,... More

They are everywhere and obviously normal rules of restaurant hygiene do not apply to them, no one seems to mind though. Ferry, bus transfer, bike hire and snorkel gear organised first rate, except for long queue at ferry, consider making this self serve maybe. The island itself is a paradise, simply spellbinding beaches at every turn. Great wildlife - did... More

We used the Rotto Express boat from Barrack street in the city at 8.30 am (book early because it's always busy). The fast cruise up river is excellent with informative commentary. I found the trip across the ocean extremely rough (but I'm very bad at sea), but it only last 30 minutes. The boat is very comfortbable, the staff friendly,... More

Hello Simon, sorry to hear you hit a rough patch on your ferry trips - it is a good idea to be strategic when choosing your seat if you suffer seasickness! It sounds like you enjoyed your trip out; thanks for passing on your comments and advice. More

I found this service to be very efficient, easy to pay for tickets online, I took my bike on the ferry which was easy to do. Quick ride over only took 25 mins. Missed my afternoon ferry but was easily changed by friendly staff at Rottnest island. Only downfall is waiting out in the sun both ends to board the... More

With our kids ages 8 and 11 we spent a fantastic hot day on rottnest island today. Booked the tickets late last night and only managed to get on the 1130 ferry. I balked at the price for a day ($240 for 4 people) NOT including bike rental but it was definitely worth it. Ferry was easy, leaving right from... More
