I decided to write about this place for several reasons.
It is a place that concerns our common History and its repression is associated with our (Poles) complexes. We pretend that there were no Jews, but cemeteries are a proof of a completely different reality.

Located by the road, on the edge of a hill and in the forest makes it unnoticed for us. Rebuilt from what was left after years of "repression" forces us to reflect.
I recommend stopping by at least for a few moments just to think about what caused that a large part of our nation, which were Jews, suddenly ceased to exist. How much has our National Heritage lost through this loss.

The Holocaust Memorial Wall and the Jewish Cemetery behind it is a very interesting place to see on a warm and dry day. Unfortunately inaccesible in winter with snow on the ground because one can not climb the hill where it is located. Additional problem is the lack of light there so you can see this memorial only during the daytime.

we visited the Holocaust Memorial Wall which is just down the street from the Hotel we were staying at. During the war (WW2) the Germans had the stones removed from the graves and made into a footpath so everyone walked over them. Sickening!

I have ordered an organized tour so visitting this place was included. For about 4 eur you can do it the same at main square. Then you can see a big part of town, Korzeniowy Wawoz and this Sciana Placzu. It is amazing place full of history, unfortunately sad history. However it is important to remember and not repeat the same mistakes in the future.

That the recovered tombstones were built into a memorial wall was moving . Walking behind the wall to see the cemetery among tall trees . So peaceful a spot you could feel the centuries , the vastness and the emptiness .

The cemetery is rather beautiful and the setting makes the split wall all the more shocking. Worth taking the walk

However it is a little bit outside of any walking roads. I had to go a specially for it and later walking around forests to don't come back the same way. One of those things to visit if we've already seen more important places around.

When in Kazimierz Dolny, a stop at this memorial is well worth the time. This Jewish graveyard and memorial is moving and, to a degree, haunting, as an earlier reviewer noted.

A very moving place to visit. The wall has been tastefully designed to commemorate one small part of the enormous crimes of the Holocaust in Europe. We need to remember the culture built up over centuries in Poland that was so brutally eradicated.
