This is one of the musts for everybody visiting Skagen. If you buy tickets for this and the two other musts (Skagen museum and Drachmann's house) you get a price reduction. They are all worth it. But Ancher's house is more than a museum. It was the house where the artists lived and worked, and it is just as much... More

A must see in Skagen. Being able to walk around the home of this artist couple, most likely the most important in Denmark, is a great experience.

When you have visited Skagens Museum it is interesting to visit a real home where one of the great painters lived. Everything is original and you get a good filing closer to the persons.

A look into a pocket in time, it is as was when Anne Ancher died in 1935. An overwhelming collection of early version of many famous Skagen painting. Went on a tour led by a very knowledgable guide

A very beautiful but simple residence, used by Anna and Michael Ancher. At a modest extra charge, one can obtain a combined ticket that, in addition to the magnificent Skagens Museum, covers this house (situated very close to the Museum) as well as Drachmann's house (a longer walk away - and which I have reviewed already). There is something magical... More

This was not my first visit to this home. My first was in the 1990s. My most memorable visit was more than 10 years ago with the original curator of the house, Inge Antonsen. Remarkable. Skagen was the meeting place for a generation of creative men and women who left their mark on the culture of Denmark and Northern Europe.... More

You have to see this if you are in Skagen as he is arguably the most famous of all Skagen painters. The house is nice and gives a good idea of how the moderately wealthy lived back then in far off Skagen.

The house stands exactly as it did when Ancher had died, fantastic environment to see how people lived at the time. Great paintings and works of art in this house that must have been the luxury of high level in the early 1900's.

The amount of art in this house is overwhelming. Many excellent paintings, also some sculptures, and lots of artifacts from the heydey of the Skagen artists. Note: more information in English would have been appreciated, beyond just a listing of items.

Just across the road from the main Skagen Museum is the red-painted house of the couple who were the core members of the Skagen group of artists. They were the only ones who lived there all year round and fully integrated into the life of the community. When you have put on your cloth over-shoes you are free to wander... More
