Made it to the Venta Rapids at sunrise. There is parking up by the bridge and you follow the dirt part down to the river. Best visited at this time for the light as well as no one around.
One of the top attractions in Kuldiga when passing through and why not! It’s the widest Waterfall In Europe.

I have been to Niagara, Iguazu, Angel, and Victoria Falls and Venta Rapid Waterfall certainly is not in the same league. But, if you are in Riga and have a couple of hours to spare, it is definitely worth a visit to see the widest waterfall in Europe. You can easily walk down to the waterfall and easily walk into the historic town afterwards. When I was there, I saw fish jumping up the stream. A very nice pleasant half day trip especially if the weather is good.

Loved it, day was rainy, but still beautiful.I loved the view from the waterfall side on to the red brick bridge. It looks magnificent.Suggest you to go there during salmon period, when the fish are jumping against the flow of the fall, looks beautiful.

It is a huge water fall, a favorite place for families, especially in a warm summer day. There are a couple of ice cream vendors in the vicinity. One of them has a fantastic creamy ice cream with small chunks of coco cookies and blue berry.

To find a natural waterfall in lowland country is really an experience. The river views are gorgeous as is Kuldiga town with its miniature “Venice” and beautifully restored old town. True gem of Latvia!

Very nice waterfall although it isn't very high. Sometimes you can see fish in the waterfall but I was there at the end of April and didn't see any, but I did see fishermen in the river. In the summer, you can according to tourist brochures, stand under the waterfall and get a massage.

However, if you plan on coming to Kuldiga just to see the waterfall, you might be a little disappointed, but the town itself is interesting. There are many cycling routes and hiking trails around the town as well as canoe rental places. There are also interesting buildings around the town and for me that would be the real reason to go to Kuldiga rather than just to see the waterfall.

This was interesting to see but when visiting in spring the water level was high and the difference between above and below the waterfall was not much. I imagine in summer it looks more impressive. It is quite wide, as it is supposed to be.

We are a family of five. Today we visited the Venta Rapid Waterfall. It was peaceful and pretty. There were many benches along the way and a few overlooking the falls. Some of us took a swim in the freezing cold water. It was a marvelous sight, and an exciting adventure! Even though it isn’t a high falls, it is still beautiful. Park on the side where the tourist train stops and then walk down to the river. Afterwards, you can cross the bridge to the city and walk around.

We got the 7am express bus from Riga and were in Kuldiga by half nine. Some of the buses take 3 1/2 hours so you have to plan your visit. The town was just waking up so we wandered down the main street to the tourist info. Their small map was useful because it guided us to walk through the park and round the back streets. We went up the tower at StKatherine's church (50 cent donation) which gave a good view out. Then we went to the Venta Falls and had a walk across them, slippy, fast moving in the middle, fun to do. There were plenty of people swimming above and below the falls. The local map recommended standing under the falls for a back massage! We caught the 14:30 bus back (after a brilliant lunch at Goldingen Room an Italian restaurant). The town itself is quaint, a bit dilapidated and good to meander through.
If you book the return bus when you arrive it will guarantee you a seat as you board before anyone without tickets- listen out for the driver calling numbers out and get on then. If you don't want to walk the falls or have lunch there is a 12:30 bus - but the slow pace was good for us after a few days in Riga.
