Not only the old town square but the whole old town of Sandomierz is beautiful and fascinating. Old renaissance buildings are renovated, lots of cafés and restaurants with gardens, small shops around the square and the Old town hall in the middle make this place unique. On a weekday out of season without crowds one can fully and peacefully admire its architecture.
Half a day was enough to stroll along the river, visit the old cathedral with stunning paintings and unusual sculptures ofangels, the medieval castle, St. James Church, enjoy the shade of the canions and walk along Old streets.
Guides here are eager to show around the place on foot or in electric cars waiting on the Old Square.
I'm sure there are lots of other attractions and we will return to explore the town.

The right choice indeed. It is one of the so-called model cities of old Poland. It contains the right elements for our prosperity from centuries ago. Zamość, Rzeszów, Jarosław near Przemyśl and, of course, magnificent Kraków have a similar profile. The location of the old town is also interesting because the city is located on 7 hills. This city is sometimes called little Polish Rome. The splendor of the city is evidenced by the magnificent Cathedral and the houses of renowned artists of the era, such as Jan Długosz, who was a chronicler, and Mikołaj Gomółka, who created more Renaissance polyphony pieces known in Poland and in the East.

My uncle Stanislaw Krawczynski was a medical doctor and member of Polish Parliament representing Sandomierz during period 1930 to 1939. After Germans invaded Poland in 1939 he was caught as a hostage and murdered with 780 other people by Germans in Brzasku in June 1940. That was pone to exterminate Polish Intelligentsia. He owned 4 houses at the Market Square and unfortunately after my father died and my mother was left with 4 small children, City of Sandomierz (Komuna) stole those houses from my family. I'm living now in California, but I still believe that my family should get back those houses. Since my family is from Sandomierz area, as a child I often traveled to Sandomierz, Loniow etc to visit my maternal grandparents who lived in Swiniary.

The marketplace is very nice and picturesque. It reminds a little the medieval city centres you can find all over Europe. It’s worthwhile spending some time at this place even though it is about 3 hours from the main attractions Luke krakow and Warsaw

My wife and I visit Sandomierz regularly and the market square is the main attraction. Great place to sit and have a drink in the many cafes around the square. The townhouses and center town-hall visually please the eyes watching kids feed and chase the pigeons is amusing. The city keep the market square clean with many planters with flowers. It would be good if the tour carts would park and collect their clients in a side street instead having a parking jam and the east and south side of the square.
Visit this town square you will not be disappointed.

Small square where you can take a 2-3 Hour walking tour ( 15 Zloty ) or a 45 min car tour( 25 zloty ) to learn some history about this town & enjoy scenic views.

A few shopping stores & shopping tents where you can buy souvenirs. Also a few places where you can buy local delights like pierogis and sausage or something sweet.

Nice little square to walk around & enjoy some sandomierz time :)

The small yet really nice Rynek, not perfectly flat but slightly sloping down towards the river, with the Gothic town hall at its center and colorful house all around its perimeter.

Sandomierz is a nice old city with a rather small and cosy central market square. Basically, almost everything is happening on/around this square and a few side streets. It is for sure worth visiting when you are around. We took a ride by one of the cars that are waiting for you on the square. I would advise you to do this early after arrival, because in a short period of time you will be able to see the main highlights of the city, enabling you to decide where you would like to walk afterwards.
