The Dominican Church is famous for its story of 49 Dominican martyrs murdered here during the Tatar invasion in 1260. It is one of the oldest brick churches in Poland, in a unique Romano-Ghotic style, with beautiful stained glass windows and ceramic decorations on the outside. A very old linden tree in front of the church has its legend that says it was one of many linden trees planted around the property upside down so that the miracle comes (the previous landlord did not want to give his property to Church, and he finally agreed to give up if there is a miracle, and apparently it did happen...)

This church is an amazing place of silence where you can actually feel the hundreds of years of local (and global) history whispering to your ear. Amazingly, you can even see the traces of a sword on the stone floor, dated back to the 12th century! Plus it's an architectural gem. a must see in Sandomierz.

... and probably most interesting for its mysterious atmosphere, nice views on Sandomierz and a small vineyard outside

If you expect golden ceiling and beautiful sculptures, don't go there. Interior is extremely modest.
Church is dated back on 12.th century. It's not so close to the main square.

Located a bit outside the center, on the way to Queen Jadwiga's Valley, the church is definitely worthy a visi for its architectural value.

The path to this church is very picturesque. The church itself has its own old charm! Remember about proper clothes- otherwise you may be asked to leave the church or not admitted at all.

The church was erected in 1226 and then to Sandomierz from Krakow came Dominican Republic. It was the second monastery Krakow. Brick, erected at the main part in several stages during the 13th century, was built in the 14th century bell tower and the west wing of the monastery
