    Awe inspiring caves
The Skocjan tour was a highlight of our trip to Slovenia! You feel like you're in the Lord of the Rings in a dwarf cave! The first rooms feel like another planet - like Star Wars sets have sculpted the rocks from imagination. Then, the winding lit paths along the huge chamber walls are almost romantically lit as you admire the awe inspiring power of nature to carve out these massive caves. At the end, our guide sold us on the long route back, and it was so worth it to walk through more caves and along the ridge on the forest trail. Just make sure to bring enough water on a hot day.

    Interesting place
These caves are really huge. Plus surrounding area. We visited caves in Czechia, Croatia and Greece. There are also big. But size isn’t the most important. As in other caves is interesting ecosystem and environment and fauna and flora.

    Just WOW
I really can't find the right words to describe this extraordinary experience! We've visited various caves but they are nothing to compare with this. Moreover, we went during the great Slovenian floods of Aug.2023 - the caves were open, no floods in the area, but the river was a huge, roaring beast. It was intimidating and marvellous at the same time. I loved the lights inside on the paths. You definitelly have to buy the tickets in advance, which we did several days before we even left home for Slovenia. The system is easy enough and I love the idea of going without the fear of queuing with kids.

Absolutely one of my favorite places
This place is awesome. Make sure to book in advance on-line to get your time slot as the entry into the main cave area is guided and the group sizes are limited for each guide. There are plenty of slots but we came in early September and people who showed up without booking had 2-3 hour waits to get in. Once inside, be prepared to be awestruck. You cannot take photos inside the main attraction, which is too bad as it is indescribable otherwise. You just have to check out the photos on their website. When you leave that cave, your guided part ends and you have three choices to go back. the guides will let you know. These caves and areas al also wonderful. I can't come up with enough superlatives to describe it all........

The Skocjan Caves - Magical and raw
It's hard to find the right words to describe the Skocjan Caves. This place is so magical and so raw. I've been to several caves, but this one made a fantastic impression on me. The Skocjan Caves are so huge that you can easily feel the space. Phenomenal rock formations - stalactites and stalagmites, plus a rushing river beneath us. You are not allowed to take photos in the main area. We chose the longest trail - it's beautiful, it was a bull's-eye.

The Caves are on UNESCO's List and quite an experience. However, the caves are quiet a walk. Moreover, it's very dark inside to actually notice all the things being told by the guide.
If you have to choose between 2 caves in Slovenia, I'd recommend Postojna. It's most beautiful caves I have seen until now. If you have enough time, then both can be experienced.

An impressive cave system, which was created inside a limestone rock.
Inside the cave there are stalamites and stalactites.
The special part of the cave is discovered after walking for about half an hour inside, then a part of the Reka River is discovered, which flows powerfully inside the cave.
From the meeting point we walk for about fifteen minutes to the entrance of the cave, at the end of the tour there is another walk and up in the elevator, back to the meeting point.
Photography inside the cave is prohibited in any form.

Skocjan Cave is under UNESCO protection. Everything is very well organized, although I have a feeling that 22 € is a lot to give for a entrance. Considering that in the period when we were there there was no bat in the cave, it is not clear to me why they did not give us a photo inside because it is not so dangerous considering that sazs is forbidden for our protection.
There are a lot of stairs to walk. In any case, it is worth a look.

This is one of the best case systems we have toured ever and a must see. We took the tour through the caves and it was amazing. I would highly recommend finding time to stop and tour the caves. The different rooms and features are really indescribable. You have to go to see! There are many steps but the tour guide took us a leisurely pace so it was not too difficult. Bring good shoes and a light jacket/coat - but not too heavy as you do work climbing stairs! We got their early and were on one of the first tours which gave of the rest of day to tour the country side even more!!

One of the most special caves we visited. an absolute must. Totally different then Postojna, so you can do both. Its a long walk and lots of stairs. The guides don't use any voice amplifier equipment and its extremely difficult to hear them unless you are standing right next to them.
Preferable to visit in winter because the river flows strongly inside the cave. Our guide was Eva, she is absolutely great!!!! very good guide.

Didn’t know if we should visit these caves after already visiting Postojna, but happy we did, incomparable caves, except for the entree fee which is quite high for both. Due to Covid no guided tours, you walk through the caves on your on in small groups. The cave is really impressive, not because of the stalactites and stalagmites but because of the seize and overall feeling it gives
