We did not go in to the castle. We were said it is not really worthy. Castle was renovated after some big fire, so the most of the interior is not original anyway. But the gardens are few hours of very nice views and chill among the trees and flowers.

The castle is newly reconstructed and surely makes a defining feature of the cityscape - looks great in pictures (especially from the nearby Svaty Kopecek hill)...

But frankly, you will not miss much if you skip it - while there are some interesting exhibitions and multiple (way too many, actually) small circuits inside the castle, the fact each of the tour is charged separately and some focus on just a few rooms, only adds to the overall feeling of an opportunistic cash grab.

If you have limited time, pay a visit to a far more impressive Lednice castle or even the smaller Valtice castle - both just a short drive (even by public transport) from Mikulov and both offering a more memorable experience.

a gorgeous citadel on a hill with great views, nice but not massive gardens. We didn't go in. Right off the main square in this delightful surprise of a Moravian gem.

A nice castle in Moravia, with pretty gardens and beautiful views over Mikulov. The gardens and the inner court of the castle are free to visit.

nice place to take a stroll and enjoy the view.
the gardens were nice, especially the little one next to the ticketshop (you can access it for free). its a typical location for weddings and is a bit hidden with not much public view into it.
walking along the wall where they have little gardens was beautiful.

This chateau and formal gardens is stunning and such amazing views over the plains to the south and Austria. The whole place is perfectly looked after and I would love to go back.

The castle looks spectacular from afar and is well worth visiting. The gardens and inner courts for free! There are more exhibitions and I found the most interesting the one about vine production in the region. There is an impressive big barrel in the cellar,

We visited the castle with friends and used the audio guide. We found it a bit tedious, with too much detail and not enough storyline. Basically it is a museum rather than the usual ‘this is how it used to be’ castle. The audio guide was only available in English and the guided tours only in Czech. There were some spectacular views of the town.
