Jakub Krcin lived in 16th century and was responsible for construction of ponds around Trebon. He married a lady 30 years his senior for financial reasons (he was bankrupt at the stage and almost ended up in prison) but despite her age they were married for almost 21 years. He later married another lady and they had 6 daughters. Wilhelm von Rosenberg gave him a farmstead and two villages(for his services) but Krcin's family could keep it after his death only if he had a male heir (which he did not)

Monument of Jakub Krčín z Jelčan a Sedlčan (1535-1604), this monument (as well as the one of Josef Šusta) is the start of the causeway around the lakes. It is situated at the enbankement of pond Svět, opposite the pier for cruise ships and overlooking the pond he created (for which he had to demolish a part of Třeboň city). He was a nobleman, born in a poor family of armigers, who started his career as an accountant of Vilém and Vok z Rožmberk (thanks to the intercession of Evy z Rožmberk whom he rescued in a forest after a fall from a horse) and was elevated to Viscount supported, became viscount in Český Krumlov, who led the economic reformation and finally became Rožmberk regent in Třeboň, he was also the leading financial manager of Czech feudal estates. According a legend he rides at midnight in a chariot drawn by two cats along the narrow strip of land between the Lakes Rožmberk and Kaňov as even after his death he found no peace.
