We saw this historical monument when we went on our 12 km long trip around the lake Svet. There si very small and nice refreshment bar very close to.

Jakub Krcin was the architect responsible for the lake- building in this area which led to its great prosperity. He built both the Svet Pond and the Rozmberk Pond which is the largest fishpond in the Czech Republic.

Jakub Krcin lived in 16th century and was responsible for construction of ponds around Trebon. He married a lady 30 years his senior for financial reasons (he was bankrupt at the stage and almost ended up in prison) but despite her age they were married for almost 21 years. He later married another lady and they had 6 daughters. Wilhelm von Rosenberg gave him a farmstead and two villages(for his services) but Krcin's family could keep it after his death only if he had a male heir (which he did not)…

House of Jakub Krcin is the one of living buildings in fortification of Trebon city. It´s nice and monumental building.

Monument of Jakub Krčín z Jelčan a Sedlčan (1535-1604), this monument (as well as the one of Josef Šusta) is the start of the causeway around the lakes. It is situated at the enbankement of pond Svět, opposite the pier for cruise ships and overlooking the pond he created (for which he had to demolish a part of Třeboň city). He was a nobleman, born in a poor family of armigers, who started his career as an accountant of Vilém and Vok z Rožmberk (thanks to the intercession of Evy z Rožmberk whom he rescued in a forest after a fall from a horse) and was elevated to Viscount supported, became viscount in Český Krumlov, who led the economic reformation and finally became Rožmberk regent in Třeboň, he was also the leading financial manager of Czech feudal estates. According a legend he rides at midnight in a chariot drawn by two cats along the narrow strip of land between the Lakes Rožmberk and Kaňov as even after his death he found no peace.…
