This monastery is, as well as its ajoining "Our Lady Queen of Martyrs and Saint Giles" church only to be visited by guidetour, held once a day (I believe it was around half past three) at a small fee. Photographing is forbidden (exept in the tiny Paradise garden at its enclosed courtyard), but as the guide stands with his eyes closed for 70% of the time you-+ can test your luck... The guidetour is only in Czech langueage but the guide speaks some English. As I understand Czech you'll not miss out on much as all holy in the bible were mentioned so it dragged on and on. Outside this guidetour one can only peek inside the church through the latticework. St. Giles monastery church with its high tower dominates the former Augustinian convent founded in 1367 by the Rozmberk family, they took their foundation to heart and donated fortunes to them. A new Treaty coincided with the 1369 construction of the Church. 1567 Lifted by the secularizering, 1631 reopened, but never obtained its former importance. The monastery library was brought to Prague in the thirty years war, where it was robbed by the Sweeds and brought to Stockholm. The oldest parts is the cloister in the convent and the 14th century chapel of St. Vincent. The courtyard is surrounded by the complex of mostly 18th century Baroque buildings, a “Paradise” (garden and a well), the 17th-century stone fountain is located in the middle of the courtyard of the monastery.
