This is a picture perfect little town with a fairytale inspired castle. Pictures do not do the site justice and it is pretty open to wander around in (including explore the rooms and chapel of the inner castle, crossing a draw bridge and wandering around what wold have been the main square). Don't rush this one, take your time to see it. Warning: the last Sunday of the month access is free so the whole town can be a total zoo. Parking will be hard to find and lines for the restaurant can be long.

Exceptionally beautiful place. The castle itself is very historically rich- but the location and beauty is out of this world

What can be more perfect than a castle in the middle of lake Trakai!? The site of this beauty was so amazing.. the area where it is located is total splendor. I am so happy I got to see this castle. To enter inside the castle of course there is a fee. There is also boats with rides if you want to view it from the water. This castle does not look like an old building ..on contrary it looks as though it was built recently. However it's old and dull of history. A 150% must see when in Lithuania. It's about an hour and half ride from Vilnius.

TOURISTS: Whatever you do don’t get a local taxi from Vilnius just get the bus. The 5 minute walk from the bus stop is worth it for the views. Awesome spot for taking photos.

Located in a beautiful setting between the shores of five lakes Trakai is the most visited tourist attraction in Lithuania. It is not possible to describe in words how beautiful this castle is in reality. It is the only island castle in Eastern Europe.
