This is an attraction that one must see! The detailed information during the guided tour in the visitor center is already worth it but the real fun is the boating. Highly recommended! This attraction is very popular and has limited capacity, be prepared for booking in advance.

Foreign visitors should be aware that the guided tour is only in Hungarian. (Rumor has it that there’s audio guide in English, but I’m not sure since I’m Hungarian and didn’t need translation). The tour guide was knowledgeable, funny and attentive. The information was neither too much nor too little. The boat ride was fun, the water crystal clear, the path quite adventurous. Not recommended for claustrophobic people. :-)

It was a one hour visit to a smal cave with a short boat ride at the bottom. We waited a little for our boat and we paddled on our own around a short circle and bumped against the walls and other boats. A very funny experiece. Worth a visit specially for young families.

We visited here with our 5 year old. There is audio tour headsets available for non Hungarian speakers and all the information throughout the walk through museum is in English and German as well as Hungarian. Really interesting and the little boat ride through the caves amazing!!

Decided to stop at the Tapolca caves, wished we did not. Paid for our cave tickets which included their "museum". OY! I am being generous calling it a "museum", it feels like they needed to add something to the tour to extend your time and this was it. Dusty mannequins portraying primitive people with a few other items found in the cave. This thing made the Pirates of the Caribbean ride look like a visit to the Guggenheim! Then there was the cave tour itself. We were told to get into very small tin boats and go through the cave. We were NOT expecting that. And, there we were two of us trying to row a boat through a cave. No tour, no guide, it felt like an uneventful ride. If you have other options to visit then please give this one a skip. Was totally disappointed.
