We took a 12 hour Tallinn to Riga tour ( was to be bus but turned out to be private car!) and this was one of the stops the guides made. We were there for about 2 hours hiking along the cliffs on the boardwalk pathways through the forests. It was a nice break from the city life......The part we... More

About an hour drive from Riga there is a NP where you can have an active holidays or just relax in the nature. There are lots of attractions (such as climbing center or bobsleigh track) but you can also just go for a walking tour in the forests, as the treks are quite obvious, well marked and in every tourist... Huge and really beautiful National Park with wonderful castles and untouched nature. It worth staying there a couple of days.

Very many opportunities to enjoy Latvian nature. You can hike, bike, paddle... Different levels, easy and short routes also for the youngest in the family, but also demanding routes for read adventurers. Lots if historical and cultural places to visit around Gauja.

Warrants a day or 2 as a welcome break from the city (or cities if you're doing a trip through the Baltics). Beautiful park, stunning on a sunny day (not so sure what it'd be like on a grey, rainy day). We spent the whole day walking around Sigulda and up to Turaida castle. We spent a night in the... More

It was fascinating seeing the old castle Truaida from the crusades. My daughters enjoyed climbing to the top of the watch tower. Great view.

The view facing the valley from the castle top was priceless, there is also a Macau ruins of St. Paul's lookalike inside the park! There is a small auditorium that holds small events.

There are many features in this park and I am sure it has something for everyone. There are cultural and historical features, caves, nature trails, a cable car, the river Gauja, and it is possible to walk, cycle, bungee jump, hike, sail, ski, bobsleigh and just enjoy the countryside! We visited the Gutmanala Grotto, the Presbyterian Church, the Rose of... More

There are awesome parks and paths to hike and just relax. Many attratctions are quite popular as there are a lot of tourist tours going on.
