Warrants a day or 2 as a welcome break from the city (or cities if you're doing a trip through the Baltics). Beautiful park, stunning on a sunny day (not so sure what it'd be like on a grey, rainy day). We spent the whole day walking around Sigulda and up to Turaida castle. We spent a night in the... More

It was fascinating seeing the old castle Truaida from the crusades. My daughters enjoyed climbing to the top of the watch tower. Great view.

The view facing the valley from the castle top was priceless, there is also a Macau ruins of St. Paul's lookalike inside the park! There is a small auditorium that holds small events.

There are many features in this park and I am sure it has something for everyone. There are cultural and historical features, caves, nature trails, a cable car, the river Gauja, and it is possible to walk, cycle, bungee jump, hike, sail, ski, bobsleigh and just enjoy the countryside! We visited the Gutmanala Grotto, the Presbyterian Church, the Rose of... More

There are awesome parks and paths to hike and just relax. Many attratctions are quite popular as there are a lot of tourist tours going on.

Rolling hills, wooded of course, cross country skiers (using skis with wheels) on the cycle tracks, cable car across the river outside Sigulda, all add a bit of charm to the area.

Visited this park which is about an hour's drive from Riga. The park is massive and has castle ruins and the river Gauja flowing in the midst of it all. Apart from exploring the ruins we also took the cable car ride which is expensive but gives great views. The folk song sculpture park is a lovely walk as well.... More

We loved our stay in the Gauja national park. We found walking to be well-signed, with paths well-maintained. The landscape was pretty without being spectacular, and the bus/rail services cheap and reliable. Lovely wildlife and a very relaxing place to visit.

Gauja NP is only 1.25 hours on a train from Riga. It's covered with thick forest and dotted with ponds and marshes with the river Gauja running through it. I went on a train from Riga to Sigulda, then by bus from Sigulda's bus stand to Turaida; I visited the Turaida Castle then back to Sigulda on foot (5km). My... More

When traveling by car, some of the places inaccessible. Roads and trails are poorly marked. There should be more information in English or German.
