Stunning Art Nouveau Architecture Walk in Riga

Riga is definitely a city with beautiful architecture everywhere, but especially stunning are the Art Nouveau buildings. This luxurious, totally decorative style of architecture is one of the main reasons why the historical centre is included on the UNESCO World Heritage List and why those who appreciate culture and art visit Riga in the first instance. This tour will introduce you to so-called "beautiful era" or La Belle Époque in the beginning of 20th century, when Riga was one of the wealthiest cities in Europe. Our lovely and professional guides will explain you the philosophical meaning hidden behind the luxury facade decorations and will show you some stunning Art Nouveau examples - the most famous ones on Alberta Street and those that only locals know. The tour also includes visit to Art Nouveau Museum that has an unique collection of Art Nouveau design, art & furnishings.

Latvian cuisine is exquisite and this is the perfect tour to discover it. We went around Rīga's central market with Liga, who introduced us to many flavours our palates had never tasted before: pickled veggies, hearty soups, delicious pastries. She made sure we were following all the sanitary requirements and we felt super safe with her. We couldn't recommend this tour enough. This is an experience for all senses since colours also invade you from all around. Great gourmet experience overall. Thanks Liga!

Outstanding tour by a local expert who has a passion for travelling. Our tour guide took us around Riga, showing the amazing sites, but also provided a very personalised insight by asking about our interests and then showing things that we might like. Not only was the tour extremely informative, it also gave us a chance to get to know some local spots which explored later on by ourselves. One of the best walking tours we had. Highly recommended.

I found Raami Travel through a web search for tour guides in Riga and contacted several local guides regarding a full day (8 – 9 hours) private tour for two. Liga from Raami Travel was quick to respond and seemed to have a better appreciation of what we were trying to achieve than the other companies, and the price was similar or better. Liga put together a full itinerary (which she communicated to us prior) including the Old Town, Art Nouveau district, and some street art and ended up at the Markets. Liga met us at our apartment on the edge of the Old Town for the tour, which was run at our own pace (I like to stop a lot for photos) and was mostly walking but with a short taxi ride (additional cost but only a few euros) to and from the street art, to save time. Liga obviously provided a running commentary during the tour but also gave us an interesting insight into the recent history of Latvia and life post communism, as well as providing tips on other things to see and places to eat in Riga. Highly recommended.

Dear Colin, Thank you so much for writing this lovely review now! As an experienced traveler yourself you probably know how important each feedback is especially right now for small, family owned businesses. I really enjoyed spending a day with you in Riga exploring city areas that were so loved by locals. I hope you made some nice pictures and memories from your trip to Europe last year. With warm greetings from Riga - Liga

We went on the walking tour this past weekend and enjoyed it very much! We learned about the history of Riga, and went to all the "must-see" places that were previously on my list. Our tour guide was very personable, patient, and friendly, letting us stop for many photos of the sites. Along our tour, we passed a few other walking tours of many people, with the tour guides speaking in microphones..so glad we chose this more intimate tour instead. A side note, this tour was longer than the allotted 4 hours. Block off time after the allotted 4 hours to see everything that was on the list of places that the tour is to visit.
