During a walk of the old town there are so many architecturally beautiful buildings to see. This castle like building was built in the mid 1800's, in the neo-gothic style. The building is not open to the public. However can still be appreciated from the street.

This was the first really beautiful building we saw in the city. We actually had great views of it from our hotel, Relais Le Chevalier. Beautifully done, and really well designed.

This is in the Old Town and is close to the The Great Guild of Riga-both in the Old Town of Riga It was built between 1864 to 1866. It is also near the Cat House, which is known for the two cat sculptures with arched backs and raised tails. The owner of the building wanted the cats to be placed with their tails turned towards the house of the great Guild, as he held a grudge against the members as he was not allowed to be a member. Later when he was granted to be a member it was later ordered that the cats should be turned around so as to face the guildhouse.

A typical medieval central Europe building, just in front of the big guild. It's perfectly preserved

Worth a quick stop as you explore the old city. After a full day of sightseeing and sensory overload some of the buildings tend to be a little less exciting!
