As Albert and Elisabeth streets are the main Art Nouveau venues in Riga, they're both out of the Old town. Jauniela is the same, but in the very center of the Old town, just by the imposing Dom Church. Really nice buildings to be seen, but look up.

In my opinion, the best place to see art noveau buildings. They are everywhere,it is difficult to decide which one is the most beautiful!

Beautiful area in Riga; buildings with different architectural style but mostly Art Nouveau. Be sure to look at the intricate carvings on the facade of each building. Each 'theme' different from the other.

Riga is blessed with a rich inventory of historical buildings. Some of them have so much going on the you get dizzy trying to see it all. Other buildings will make you laugh at it all.

Jauniela is a street between and a block from both St Mary’s Dome Cathedral and Town Hall, in Old Town. It is renowned for the architecture and Art Nouveau buildings, second only to Alberta iela. A loose comparison is San Francisco’s Queen Anne and Painted Ladies Victorian homes. This street doesn't have the hoards of tourists that many of the... More

Riga lives up to its name as probably the world capital of Belle Epoque jugenstil architecture and this street in the old town is one of many pinnacles. Riga is still yet to come of age in terms of friendliness and the embracing of tourism (some post-soviet surliness lingers in the way locals deal with visitors, but this is disappearing... More

This is a lovely old street in Old Town Riga. The architecture is so elaborate, it almost seems unreal! While walking on cobblestones is pretty rough, it is worth your while to stop and look up around you every few feet.

Just behind the City Hall, this street epitomizes Vecriga. Hotels Neiburg and Justus, some good restaurants and bars like YOLO and Spot. Just watch out for groups of tourists admiring the facade of Hotel Neiburg.

the building is well maintained by the owners, the idea to expand the style to the next building makes it even better, and it's a good puzzle of little details.

This street is in the old town area and much closer than Alberta street (lela) however, the Jauniela has less contents than the Alberta. In my opinion if you have time, you may catch a taxi to Alberta first and walk down to the old town area.
