"Panorama Riga" is a circular terrace - observation deck of the Latvian Academy of Sciences, offering breathtaking 360° panoramic views of Riga. The terrace is wide enough, so groups of tourists or companies of friends can feel free on the "Panorama Riga" observation deck. From the "Panorama Riga" observation deck, you can take wonderful photos with panoramic views of Riga, nothing obstructs the view, enclosures and glass reflections don’t interfere. You can watch the most beautiful sunset or have a romantic date in the height of 65 meters.

Probably the most beautiful view of Riga is from the top of this stalinist building. Today, the Academy of Science is located here, but you can stll get up there by a lift and walk some stairs. It costs about 5€. You’ll find it just a few minutes walk from the city center behind the central Riga market place (the... More

Get in the elevator and go to the 15th floor. Take the stairs to the 17th floor and enjoy the breathtaking scenery! Note: website mentions the place is closed in December, but it was still open 😊. Definitely worth to check out and see if you can get in! Worth your € 5,-.

A local landmark, a relic from the Soviet era, known also as Stalin's birthday cake. We did not go inside but found the outside to be imposing & interesting ...

A blot on the landscape. There is a viewing platform, but expensive. A coffee shop and variety of academic functions still exist, but it is largely empty. Legacy of Russian rule.

This is another Stalin's gift to the former eastern block (the first one is in Warsaw, although at those times Latvia was part of USSR). It's a massive stone structure modeled on US skyscrapers like all 7 others alike in Moscow. It's a multi purpose building now, but for travelers the most important is the top observation deck. With only... More

Did not go inside but from the outside, the building looks really magnificent. Check it out on a sunny day.

I took the lift up to the 15th floor, then climbed a further two floors to the viewing platform - this gives stunning views out over Riga. A very Soviet-style building!

This imposing Soviet-era building is unmissable due to its grandeur, and a visit to the top provides some of the best views of Riga. There's nothing more to really see after that, and it's in a run down area.

This is worth a visit, since it gives you a good overview of the city, but the tour is NOT. Mind you, 30,- is a ridicoulous amount of money in Latvia and you might as well read up yourself... In short: unless you are an absolute architectual design/history lover, just go for the view.

Especially on a clear day you can see miles in the country and city. You see the main attraction as well as the old houses that should long been torn down. The admission price is €5 and is just a bit too expensive I think, but furthermore nothing to comment, just to do it.
