We went on the Opera House tour in English at 2.00 pm Saturday afternoon. We were shown the recently restored interior which is really lovely but had hoped to be shown how things worked behind the curtains. As it was, we spent about 3 minutes...More

We visited the Opera house as part of a Tauck tour. It was a very thorough tour taking in the main floor, the stage and backstage, the upper levels and finished off with a private concert. Very interesting and a beautiful venue.

We have been here many times but this was the first time we noticed how uncomfortable the chairs are for sitting prolonged times. It was agonizing for the back to sit 2½ hours without any intermissions. However, Richard Wagner’s 'Der fliegende Holländer' was an excellent...More

I went and watched Der Fliegende Hollander. It was Latvia’s 100-year celebration special. The ticket was reasonably priced so I would recommend seats without any limit on visibility. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be able to read the English subtitles. If you understand Latvian, then never mind....More

Beautiful building and set in a well kept garden area in downtown. Try to get tickets before you go and be ready for an intimate experience. Compared to the vast halls in London or New York, this Opera Hall is petite and gives you a...More

When Latvian world known singers perform tickets are sold half a year before event. I was there for Nabucco and I am going to see it again in April 2019. Opera house itself is worth to walk around.

We saw a performance of Turandot at the opera house and were completely thrilled by the experience. The amazing building, restored and elegant, excellent service from the staff - not least the two young people serving at the bar on the dress circle level. Working...More

I bought 2 tickets for 7 eur each and we were sitting in the balcony. The places were perfect, we can hear and see perfectly. Atmosphere in the Latvian National Opera is extraordinary, building is like a museum. My fiance is not a huge lover...More

We visited Latvian National Opera/Ballet during January. There was (at that week) on programme Swan Lake which we had seen several times, so instead we decided for Turandot which was first time for both. The opera performance was very good, orchestra played very well. The...More
