We stayed right up the street from the clock, and walked by it each day. There's really nothing special about it, but that it tells time...

The clock is one of the symbols of Riga. It is said that some time ago it was a meeting point for dates. Now, it is still known as a meeting point - even if the clock is not so "visible" in the "shadow" of the Liberty Monument. Laima is the name of the confectionery factory and at the same time the name of Balt goddess of fate..

Get to this point in the hour. Then listen to the music box chimes that sing out. Then you can carry on, with maybe a more cheerful day!

If you are passing taking a photo of the clock but its not a site you would go out of your way to visit, It is a rather unassuming tower so take your photo and move on to the freedom monument. Its a 5 minute stop on route to something more interesting.

This is a totally unattractive clock, located near the Freedom monument, which is somehow liked by locals and serves as a popular meeting point.

Probably of more interest to locals, as a meeting place, than it is to tourists, who are more likely to view it simply as a point of reference to other attractions.

The Laima Clock is named after a chocolate company and stands near to the Freedom Monument. It has been fully restored recently. A great meeting place, apparently!

One of the small pieces of history in Riga - this time a clock linked to local chocolate maker. Located just adjacent to the Freedom Monument and on the edge of the Riga Old Town, not a must see activity, but one that you are bound to pass on your walk in the area.

Laima Clock is just out of Old Town at one end of the bridge and the Freedom Monument at the other end.Its location between the Old Town and the Centre commercial district has made it a landmark of the city.It was completed in 1924.

It is said that the Laima Clock was a popular meeting place people going on a date. It's not that impressive, and to be honest, a little ugly. The name comes from the Laima confectionery company, the largest in Latvia, which sponsors the clock. It was originally built to tell people on their way to work and appointments the time, so they wouldn't be late. Worth seeing because of the local history associated with it.
