Tartu is a student city. 20 percent of residents of the city are Tartu university students. It is 17 century's university. The building is very beautiful from outside as well as from inside. It looks grand and dominating. Recommended to go inside the architectures there are nice. Besides, you may listen Choral singing inside if some of them are training.

The TU building is a solemn column-front long white building on the middle of the hill steeping towards the Emoji river. Dignified and pretty building but close to the other center city buildings, it is hard to have an angle to take it in a picture! I thought someone can actually have a good shot of it from the top... This is a very old university, founded by the Sweden University. The main building is beautiful. It looks grand. We visited in the summer vacation, so no bustling of students and professors. You can enter the building anyway. There is a little museum in the main building about the ancient Greeks. The lay-out is very much like other main university... More

When visiting Tartu it is a must see! It is located near the old town. It looks really majestic and is really beautiful when it gets dark outside.

I've been in the Tratu University for a week to attend a conference. Every corner of this great University if full of history. The surrounding is awesome to have a lazy stroll or even to meditate. The tranquil corners, statutes of some great alumni of the university would attract anyone to stop by and read their life story. The building... More

I have studied there for only 5 months as an exchange student, but I am surprised by the friendly administration. No wonder why students go back to Tartu's university. P.S. You should see the building in winter!

A nice university, worth passing if in the area. A few nice cafes around and a wonderful park, just behind. We didn't do a guided tour

As one of the oldest universities in Europe it has a very rich history and an incredible reputation. The architecture is neoclassical and beautiful.

A majestic, white building with wide rooms with an excellent acoustic for concerts. It's not just an university, it's a space for Art and Music.

Historical place/house. A lot of well know people, scientists on 19th, 20th centuries studied in Tartu university. Currently the central building is under renovation, but University consists of several buildings, institutes. It is interesting to visit it! And library/libraries as well.
