Situated in Town Hall Square (obviously!) in the centre of the Old Town, Tallinn City Hall is a beautiful 14th century stone building with a terracotta tiled roof, an impressive steeple, a glittering gold weather vane and hilarious green dragon gargoyles. Unfortunately when we were...More

We ate here and drink some beers. Sitting on top of the building it feels like you are in Soviet Russia at the baltic sea. The views both on the sea but on the old town as well are really good. There are a lot...More

Worth a visit for a few reasons. One is a fantastic restoration project over a half century. Next is the foundations of municipal democracy in an authentic setting ( next to original). The third is a museum display of costumes of the period and exhibits...More

The main difference with Helsinki and Tallinn city hall, dating from 14th century is that the latter is open for weary travelers with prices to afford. Only five Euros including for a drink of spiced vodka, a pint of water and as many salted cucumbers...More

This is right by the cruise ship docks and most people just walk past on the way to or from the cruise ships. Some people go for a walk and look at it but really don't know about it. I am not going to tell...More

This concrete structure was built for the 1980 Olympics in USSR. It is no longer is use (was a concert hall more recently) and is dirty and rundown. But fascinating if you want a glimpse of the past. We enjoyed a quick walk around and...More

This huge structure is a fine example of Soviet time architecture. It is big, ugly and made of concrete. And it is useless now and I'd assume about to be demolished.

There are, in Tallinn, three high profile constructions that have in the 20+ years since the collapse of the USSR have outwardly retained the appearance of being the product of soviet design and architecture: the Television Tower (still functional), the Maarjamäe Memorial (perpetually sacred) and...More

I was driving around Tallinn and found this long lost treasure. It's a a shame that it has fallen into such disrepair over time. Graffiti and broken glass are all around. Still, it's worth the time to check it out and walk around.
