Memorial to those who fell in Estonia's struggle for independence. Located on Freedom Square it is lit at night and good to walk by going or coming from Old Town. If you want to know more about Estonia's push for freedom there is a small museum on the square where this is located call the Museum of the Popular Front (it's free) and has more info on the struggles that the cross commemorates.

At the old city, a monument for those who lost their life fighting for the freedom and independence of all estonians. Lots of options for shopping and a bite to eat a short walk from here. Love and respect what the monument stands for, but am not impressed by the art and monument itself.

This is in Old Town and our guide was very funny in pointing out how flawed it is. The glass panels started cracking after the first Estonian winter and many had to be replaced. There is some confusion about the "cross" on the top, as Estonia is probably the least religious country in the area.

Vabaduse square means freedom square. During Soviet era it was called victory square. Basically it is just a big square where there is glas monument for remembering those who fought for estonian freedom. The monument itselt is very poor quality if you observe close. There has been huge scandal in Estonia about the quality and huge price of it. Rather spend your time go visit yellow church which is at same square, called Jaani kirik.

The monument to the War of Independence is located on the Freedom Square. It was unveiled on Victory Day, 23 June in 2009.

The pillar is a memorial for those 4,000 who were killed during the Estonian War of Independence 1918-1920. It is 23.5 m high and consists of 143 glass plates.

This is an all glass majestic cross. It stands adjacent to Freedom Square and represents the fight for independence. It is hard to miss while visiting Freedom Square. It makes a great impression standing on the hill with the monument in the foreground and the square in the background particularly at night. Important part of the commemoration in the fight for freedom. Free to see!

The big Vabaduse Cross monument in the middle of the same name square marks a remembrance of the Liberation war for gaining independence from Russia in 1918-20.
It is in the very center of Tallin and it's a good photo spot and the best place to start your ascend to Toompea hill, as this is the least steep approach.

This monument is just not that impressive. The adjacent Freedom Square is also nothing particularly special other than the pretty little church on one side of it.

Find this square and visit it! Not so huge but definetely worth to see! Almost out of the classical "old town" but still easily reachable by feet. The cross is just AMAZING.

This beautiful monument, which was under wraps during my own visit, commemorates the lives of those who died iighting for others freedom during the campaign for independence. Situated in Freedom Square it is short walk from the old town.
