- MaxCambridge, United Kingdom28 contributionsAmazing interactive museumGreat museum accessible from Tallinn’s old town. Lots of interactive exhibits and the Audio guide is well worth getting. Going inside the submarine and other boats outside in the harbour is especially interesting.Visited September 2023Traveled soloWritten September 20, 2023
- Rachworldtraveller45Kent, United Kingdom144 contributionsWonderful, interesting museum with amazing submarineThoroughly enjoyed a visit to the Seaplane museum on a rainy day in Tallin. Interesting, fun audio guides help guide you through the amazing museum and so many boats and bouys to see and understand more about. Getting to go on the submarine was a real highlight and amazing to experience. Fun for all agesVisited September 2023Traveled with friendsWritten September 21, 2023
- mo_and_jcVilseck, Germany161 contributionsInteresting museumVery interesting museum and covered ancient settlers to present day. Nautical exhibits from ancient times to present. Many interactive activities for kids to experience. A bit pricey as Adult tickets were 15€ each ( no discount for seniors or students)Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 9, 2023
- Joseph PLondon, United Kingdom97 contributionsGreat museum15€ entry is quite a lot, but was really interesting. Got to go inside an actual submarine, and a lot of other exhibits that were well explained. Good for 2-3 hours, and also had a good caféVisited October 2023Traveled with friendsWritten October 25, 2023
- debsjleeMunich, Germany64 contributionsGreat museumInteresting museum. Not usually the sort I’d head for but my other half wanted to go into the Lembit submarine. It’s a well organized museum with lots of historical information. What’s also impressive is the redevelopment of the building.Visited November 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 2, 2023
- Martin LNes, Norway50 contributionsA fun few hours!A great place to visit for a few hours during your trip to Tallinn. The museum is located on the sea-side within a restored old hangar. The displays are interesting with the crown jewel being the Lembit submarine, which you can explore from the inside with great audio guides located inside the submarine.Visited November 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 6, 2023
- belleamie133Sligo, Ireland9 contributionsA great experience!I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this as much as I did! So so interesting, a reallly interactive museum and the time flew while in there! Loved the submarine especially! The area is really interesting too our Bolt driver gave a very interesting historyVisited February 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten December 2, 2023
- Sebas MBuenos Aires, Argentina124 contributionsLennusadam Seaplane Harbour - Short ReviewInteresting naval museum, and from what I could see, in particular if you have children. It has several interactive activities, and the ticket price is not that expensive (it's not cheap either). At the time of writing this, the price of the ticket included visiting the submarine that's in the museum - the most interesting part... Unless you are claustrophobic.Visited December 2023Traveled with friendsWritten December 3, 2023
- Anne GLondon, United Kingdom67 contributionsGreat day outWe absolutely loved this museum. We got a taxi from our hotel & the museum staff were kind enough to organise a return taxi for us. The museum is housed in a purpose built hangar, which is worth the entrance price alone. We visited oi a cold December day & there were a few people there but it wasn't crowded,. This was beneficial as it meant we were able to explore the submarine exhibit without queuing. There is a great deal to see, coupled with a lovely coffee shop. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.Visited December 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten January 9, 2024
- RaeCallington, United Kingdom22 contributionsWonderful, interactive museum - highly recommended! This was the most amazing and interactive sea harbour museum. You could pretend to fly seaplanes, sit in emergency dingy, try on life jackets, pilot small race boats and drive speedboats....plus tons more. It was very atmospheric, like being in an underwater cave, and everything was very clearly signposted with great historical facts. The submarine was a great surprise and fun to walk through, and the ships outside were pleasant to visit too.Visited May 2024Traveled with familyWritten June 3, 2024

This place is really worth a visit and is walking distance from the city centre. It’s worth buying tickets for both inside and out with the highlight of the inner exhibits being the submarine that you get to enter and walk around.
Outside there were several ships to enter and walk around and this was great fun too. The submarine I think is worth the experience alone.

This is a world class museum with lots to see and would be fun for kids as well as adults. There are lots of hands on activities. The projections on the submarine are really clever. You can go in the submarine and also on a number of the boats located out the back of the museum. There are little remote control boats to drive inside and a machine gun simulator.
I really enjoyed the mini theatre where you choose a character and listen to their story as you move through 3 rooms. The audio was available in a wide range of languages and gave insight into Estonian recent history about which I knew very little. There is a cafe with a small range of drinks and snacks.
We walked to the museum from our hotel near the old town it took about 25 minutes
We spent a couple of hours here there is also a good kid’s playground outside.

This is a bit unusual in that it's got a seaplane, a submarie and lots of focus on Ice Yaghting which is an odd combination but it somehow works. We spent 2 hours here and plenty of time to see the exhibitions and interactive experiences. Very good hands on stuff for kids and the kid in all of us.

I've visited this museum twice and would recommend it to anyone looking for something to do with friends or family and especially to anyone interested in ships and World Wars. It has a nice gift shop, many ships to explore, a cafe, and many interesting exhibits. Quite a few of the exhibits are interactive which helped ensure that my friends and I never felt bored.

Bus Number 73 will take you to the entrance of the museum or you an easily take a taxi or bolt/Uber to the museum.
It’s £15 per adult to enter the museum but it’s completely worth it as you could easily spend 2-3 hours here. You’re unable to purchase tickets online, but you can buy them at the ticket desk upon arrival and no reservation is required.
The museum is spread out over three huge hangars and has low lighting with multiple levels. It’s very informative as they divulge all the nautical history in Estonia and surrounding countries. There’s a good mix of interactive exhibits (flight simulator, shooting game), so it will keep the kids interested! It was pleasant surprise that they have a Lembit Submarine which you can explore inside and out.
They have a small cafe on site offering snacks and drinks, but no food or drinks are allowed inside the exhibition.
Overall, an extensive museum which is well worth the money and fun for adults and children.

We spent more than 4 hours including a short snack time at their local cafe and we'll get back next time. Great time even with a three years old kid. Amazing opportunity to discover the ships from the inside. As well enjoyed interactive activities. Both expositions (inside and outdoors).

The building itself is impressive, and the exhibits within even more so. It's not a cheap museum, but as the ticket also provides access to the maritime museum's other location at the Fat Margaret tower, it is definitely good value for money.
Visitors also get access to an old submarine and temporary exhibitions. All the information is also available in English, so the museum is easily accessible to foreign tourists. I would definitely recommened visiting both museums, as they each have their own unique feel and selection of items on display.

This museum is the real deal. It is not a sea plane museum but it is an old sea plane port restored and converted into a meratime museum for lovers of all things that have to do with the water. The main attraction is a submarine that was in service up untill just a few short years ago. A great place to go on your visit to Tallinn.

One of the places to visit, if you take interest in Estonian maritime history. The museum is situated in old sea plane hangar that was built in the early twentieth century. Exhibition is well thought through and nicely organised. One feature I liked that this is an interactive museum. You can and should bring your kids and they are going to have lots of fun.

I don't know - they have a front desk but not a lot of space. You could probably e-mail them.

Anyone knows the difference between the full priced ticket and the other 6 euros one?
Also is the large hanging ship in the public area or not?
Thanks.

Estonia
Dear visitor,
The adult ticket (14€) includes Seaplane Harbour main exhibiton ticket + temporary exhibition (the Hangar + museum ships "Suur Tõll" & "Valvas")
The 6€ ticket is a ticket to visit the museum ships ( "Suur Tõll" & "Valvas") outside behind the Hangar.
The Submarine "Lembit" is part of the inside exhibition. You would need the full priced ticket to visit the submarine and other exhibits.

Greetings from the Seaplane Harbour. We have lockers that you can use to store the baggage. All the lockers are located close to ticket sales desk.

We were planning on visiting the museum on our last day in Tallinn before our ferry to Helsinki, However as we were planning on going straight to the ferry terminal after visiting the museum we would have a medium sized suitcase with us.
Is there anywhere to store luggage / if not, are we allowed to have a suitcase with us while we visit
Many thanks
Written September 11, 2017
From their website...
Cloakroom: There is an unattended coat check to the right of the Desk, right near the stairs. The storage lockers are to the left of the stairs: 1 euro coins are needed but will be returned after using the locker.
Baggage: Big bags or suitcases are not allowed in the exhibition area. Please use the lockers to store the baggage or consult the Desk.
