The street is a nice old street, but one of many. However, most of the better restaurants are located on this street (with one or two exceptions). The restaurants are a little bit cheaper than some of the restaurants located more in sight of the...More

Street is 160 meters long and starts from Pink street. To make orientation harder it turns halfway from southward direction to south-west at Rataskaevu Square, where is a well, which was named after the street or vice versa. Name relates to Water lifting device from...More

What a beautiful street but so are most streets in the city, Good shops but buildings are the most interesting of all. Keep looking up.

We were in Tallin for 2 days and spent a lot of time in the Old Town. I dont remember how many times I walked up and down this lovely street. The architecture and ambiance is medieval. The cobblestone streets require comfortable shoes.

On our stroll of the old town, we walked along this street. It is full of shops with cafes and eating places. What I liked about Tallin is that the important buildings have Perspex plaques telling you about their history.

Routed back to the ship along this street being distracted by the many little shops along the way. Great for wee souveniers and other items

Less touristy and somewhat nicer places to eat and shops are interesting as well. I walked this a few times and found it interesting

Not as important as Pikk Street but also not as busy! There is a nice well at one end (near one of the best restaurants in Tallinn (Rataskaevu 16). Also follow this road and you end up following the city walls. Particularly suggested in the...More

This street and area typifies the Old Town itself. Architecture unique, medieval and beautiful. The streets are cobblestone as much of the area was born from 12th and 13th centuries in Europe. Narrows street which branch off into other streets and alleyways. A tourist paradise...More

Good restaurants Rataskaevu Street or nearby? (6 Replies)
I am coming to Tallinn quite late and trying to get idea of restaurants near Rataskaevu street in Old Town. I am travelling alone and a little bit scared to walk alone in Tallinn in dark - thus any place near my hotel would be fine suggestion as there is short walk only. I have been warned to walk alone in the dark evenings and nights in Tallinn - how you others find this?

Thanks for info. How do you find security question in walking outside in the darker winter time in evenings? Is there Indian restaurant nearby, possibly in the Main square?
