- PBTravelstheWorldLynden, Washington398 contributionsWalk and look closely at an amazing array of gothic and later buildingsGreat place to walk and plenty of restaurants and cafes for a snack or meal. Besides the shops and food, the buildings are an amazing collection of churches and architecture that you can study or walk though quickly. I hope you would spend some time as there are interesting signs and memorials on some of the buildings that add to the walk.Visited September 2019Written August 29, 2020
- William SClinton, New Jersey375 contributionsBeautifully preserved architectureA walk down Long Street is a trip down memory lane, with many historic buildings, including one used by the KGB in the 20th century. The buildings provide a sense of sturdy, enduring construction, but with unique features on each. There are many shops on the ground level to visit as well.Visited August 2022Written November 1, 2022
- niksk001795 contributionsPart of Old TownLong Street is an immanent part of the Old City. IMHO, it is not a conventional attraction, but a way to get a better feel of Tallinn's historical spirit. We truly enjoyed walking around and looking at various old historical buildings. The streret is long.Visited June 2019Written May 23, 2020

- KooijaDubai, United Arab Emirates10 contributionsAbsolutely the most interesting street in Estonia! The most wonderful and amazing street in the old Center of Tallinn. Just a few steps from the main square you find everything you need in just one very special street. Starting with one of the medieval gates to the old town, you step into a different world! Here you can visit the oldest cafe of the country, drink a beer in a brewery, pass by some embassies, look at some authentic Estonian art in a gallery, buy a souvenir in one of the many shops, enjoy food from Estonia, Russia, India, China or the USA in one of the many restaurants, learn something in a museum, climb a church which was once the highest building of Europe, buy a renovated luxurious apartment in the former KGB headquarters of Estonia, sleep in one of the most special hotels or the simplest hostel, or you can just walk through this street and amaze yourself as you discover something new in this historic place. Highly recommended and definitely a must to visit when you are in Tallinn!!Visited December 2015Traveled with familyWritten December 15, 2015

Not far from the Town Hall Square you can find Pikk street and walk towards the city wall facing the harbour. It just seemed much quieter and relaxed here with many fewer tourists. We enjoyed the quietness of this area, thus resulting in several strolls here. We recommend a walk up Pikk street when you are ready for a quite evening stroll in Tallin. There were a few restaurants and cafes to choose from as you approached the centre are of the city centre as well.Visited June 2010Written May 19, 2011

Excellent access to many points of interest.Pikk Street also known as Long Street is a graceful boulevard that runs from the heart of Old Tallinn to the city wall at the Coastal Gates. The street is lined with just about anything you can imagine. In addition to numerous restaurants, there are several museums, KGB and Vene just to name two. There are shops and other points of interest including The House of the Blackheads and St. Olav Church (just one block off). There are also green areas. The street is great for strolling as well. Pleasent walk in Gothic area of the town, across from the port. Only downside is the height of the pavements, not so good if you use a stick, or have aged knees.

Think of Long Street (Pikk tanav) as a medieval equivalent to NY’s Broadway. Beginning a block from Old Town Square, it passes through Old City Wall on the way to the harbor. I had been walking on Pikk Tanav for twenty minutes, looking for Long Street. Still couldn’t find it! I stopped for a beer (medicinal purposes, for my aching feet☺), and asked the server where was Long Street. He replied, “Yes.” I later learned he thought I had asked if that was Long Street. The only visible sign is simply “Pikk” and tourists looking for a sign designating it as Long Street will never find that sign. There are several hotels and hostels, and enough restaurants to satisfy anyone’s cravings. Medieval buildings (some eight centuries old) line the cobblestone street, and most have been converted to shops and restaurants. Peek into any of them and you’re sure to see exposed rock walls built centuries before. This is the quintessential street when visiting Tallinn's Old Town.

Pikk St is one of those places where the buildings and the facades take centre stage. Look up at the tops of the buildings to see some of the better styles you don't always get at eyelevel.

How is the walking for someone who needs a wheeled walker (with a seat)? Are the bathrooms in the restaurants handicaped acces.?

This sreeet is difficult for both wheel chairs and walkers as it is mainlt cobblr stones and the footpath ofter narrow and obstructed. most of the restaurants have steps at the enterance due to the age of the street. the far end has a steep street to the top viewing area, with limited mobility take a taxi. Pikk streety is closed to traffic from the KGB museum.
