This is a good route between the upper and lower towns. It is a fairly gradual slope and with the cobblestones and towering stone walls is very atmospheric. It gives you a good sense of the distinction between the two areas of the old medieval...More

We spent a day in Tallin with a guide arranged through Viking Cruise Lines. She was very informative, added humor to the tour, and you could sense the passion she had for her country. We stayed after the tour and enjoyed lunch on the Market...More

This is one of the two famous paths from the lower town to Toompea Hill. This is a longer route (hence the name). A bit steep but not too bad. Quite a few street musicians vying for your attention and some nice old buildings on...More

Such a pleasure to slowly wander in such a beautiful street in the lovely Tallinn Old Town marvelling at the stunning 14th century buildings, but be sure to do it early morning or late afternoon otherwise you will be swamped by thousands of people who...More

The Long Boot (or Long Road) was the way that wagons were brought through the wall and up to the upper part of the town. It's an interesting way to make your way between the two areas.

If you want to get to the vanes and Toompea, you should use this route. Old walls and houses visible.

A long street on the edge of the old city, just inside the wall. There are some pictures and handcrafts stalls, but we expected to see more. Perhaps it was the wrong day. In any case, a pleasant and historical walk, and in the shade.

I have no idea where this street gets its name from, apart from the fact that it is pretty long. As one of the main thoroughfares through the old town it meanders its way from one end to the other all the way to the...More

Part of the city wall defences the walls are used by local artists to display their work. A wide variety of styles so something for everyone. You can pick up some good work at reasonable prices.

Nice street to walk through and enjoy the old buildings and the wall. Street is very narrow and you need very good shoes.

Because of the name of two streets of different lengths - Luhike-Yalg (short leg) and Pikk-Yalg (long leg) - Tallinn is sometimes called a "lame city". Built in the middle of the XV century at the junction of Pikk-Yalg and... More
