This was a trip planned in 2019 and interrupted until now. Simona, who did the arrangements, stayed in touch the entire time and arranged a beautiful and interesting trip through Lithuania and Latvia. Both are beautiful countries, full of interesting history, wonderful sights, good food and nice people. We had a great guide, Gintas, who was exceptionally knowledgeable as well as fun and entertaining. The trip was extremely well-planned, with good hotels, hitting all the highlights but also allowing for free time to explore on our own. Simona was a dream to work with - listened to what we we wanted and planned accordingly. Too many highlights to mention but an opera in Riga and a day in Nida were fantastic.

My sister and I went on the Jewish Heritage Tour of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. We added a day to visit the towns where our family originated. The trip was fantastic and the attention to detail was amazing. Simona tried to find out specifics about my family and did get some information. I hesitated to wire money to an overseas company that I found online but I'm so glad that I did. The trip was emotionally difficult but well worth it. The guide was knowledgeable and sensitive also. This was my fifth trip to Europe and the best so far.

We learned so much about the Jewish heritage of each country. Through our very knowledgeable guide, we visited a wide range of sites and had opportunities to talk with museum and synagogue directors. There were also opportunities to enjoy the landscapes and amazing towns. Great hotels and reasonable price.

We were seeking a customized tour for two people, moderately priced and focused on our family roots near Kaunas. Baltic Idea came highly recommended and seemed to enjoy going out of their way to exceed expectations at every turn. Tours were expertly arranged, punctual and pertinent. Our guide, Petras Staselis, licensed and well informed was endlessly patient with my profuse questions and concern with details. The family roots part was a first time for them, but you would not have known it. We’re going back again.

This was the best tour we have taken in our lives. We saw so much of Lithuania and learned so much from our brilliant and hard working tour guide. He even detoured from our tour to find the grave of my wife’s grandfather. We give them the highest rating and can’t wait to return. It will take us weeks or months to go through the thousands of photos and videos we took. Trakai was my favorite but Vilnius is the most beautiful city we have seen. Go to Lithuania, even if you don’t speak Lithuanian, you won’t regret it.

We recently traveled to Lithuania on a tour arranged by Baltic Idea Generator. The experience exceeded our expectations! Simona paid close attention to our needs and arranged an excellent, personal tour. We greatly appreciated the attention afforded to every detail of the trip. Our guide, Gintas, was superb!! Complete and prompt responses to our every inquiry (before and during the trip) were provided by Simona or Gediminas. We have no hesitation in recommending this company for travels to the Baltics!! You will not be disappointed!!

I just returned from a private Jewish Heritage Trail tour of the Baltics organized by Baltic Idea Generator. I used this agency because of an excellent referrence I received from a previous customer of theirs. The reference turned out to be very accurate. They are a real company, reliable, responsive, flexible and accomodative, and do everything they say they will do. The best service they provided for me was arranging private meetings at a number of museums and other sites with the person in charge of the particular site. I found this very worthwhile and special.
Based on my experience, you should feel very comfortable using them for a trip to the Baltics.

Two of us (retired Epiiscopal clergymen) are planning to spend 4 full days in Lithuania probably April 25-29. We would be coming in from either St. Petersburg or Moscow and returning to either Moscow or St. Petersburg to catch flights back to the USA. One of us Stan Maneikis is LIthuanian, his grandparents came from Vilnius to the USA pre 2nd world war. We would like to do as much as possible in our short stay! We expect to arrive in Russia on the 18th and Stanley will return to the USA on the 30th or the 1st. I will go back to Russia to help him negotiate the airport connections but will then return probably to Latvia. I suppose the Curonian spit is too far to include in our 4 days and I can always include it in my Latvian holiday plans. What do you suggest as other possible inclusions to your 3 days extending it our to 4 days and whar would be the price?

Dear John,
Thank you for the enquiry, very glad to hear you are coming to Lithuania. Depending on your flights, the program could be more or less as follows:
Day 1 April 25th VILNIUS – TRAKAI – VILNIUS. Arrival to Vilnius. Today you will explore 2 capitals: Vilnius – current capital city and the capital of Grand Duchy of Lithuania – Trakai. Morning visit of UNESCO listed Vilnius Old Town with it‘s main historical, architectural monuments & one of the most beautiful churches in the world, baroque masterpiece – church of St. Petras and Povilas. Pass by Vilnius Cathedral, Grad Duke Palace, get up to Gediminas Castle tower, walk Castle street – the oldest and most flamboyant street in the Old Town, see baroque Vilnius University and Gothic St. Ann’s church, say a prayer at the miraculous Gates of the Dawn and be surprised by the constitutions of artist neighbourhood – Republic of Uzupis. Afternoon departure to Trakai (28 km), where you will visit a majestic insular castle of 15th century and learn about local ethnic minority – karaites. Return to Vilnius for overnight.
Day 2 April 26th VILNIUS – PAZAISLIS MONASTERY - KAUNAS – PANEMUNE CASTLE ROAD – KLAIPEDA. Morning departure. First stop at Pazaislis church & monastery - one of the most impressive architectural examples of late Italian baroque in North East Europe. Later continue to Kaunas second biggest city of Lithuania. Short tour of the Old Town and visit to a famous Lithuanian composer and painter M.K.Ciurlionis museum. Continue toward Klaipeda via most picturesque road – Panemune Castle Road and visit Panemune Castle. Overnight in Klaipeda.
Option 2: If you are big fans of nature, we could skip Kaunas and include visit to Vente’s horn ornithological station. It could be interesting considering that the time of bird migration would have started. Beautiful area there as well.
Day 3 April 27th KLAIPEDA - JUODKRANTE - NIDA - KLAIPEDA. You will take a ferry and will travel to Curonian Spit – the pearl of Lithuania. In Juodkrante you will visit weatherwane gallery & climb an authentic Hill of Witches, decorated with numerous wooden sculptures based on Lithuanian legends and folk tales. In Nida you will see majestic seashore sand dunes, unique wooden architecture, neo-gothic church and old ethnographic cemetery. Trip to Klaipeda for overnight.
Day 4 April 28th KLAIPEDA – COLD WAR MUSEUM - HILL OF CROSSES - VILNIUS. Morning departure to Vilnius. En route stop at Cold War Museum in Zemaitija National Park, based in the former underground missile base. Later - holy site of Catholic Pilgrimage – The Hill of Crosses. It is an expression of a spontaneous religiousness of people, and is a symbol not of grief and death but of Faith, Love and Sacrifice. From here the Pope blessed people of Lithuania and Christian Europe. Afternoon arrival to Vilnius. Overnight.
Option 2: If you prefer to spend longer time in Vilnius, we can skip Cold War Museum. We could also skip it in case you have late arrival day 1 and do Trakai on day 4 instead.
Day 5 April 29th VILNIUS. Private transfer to the airport. Departure.
Please let me know if this program is interesting for you or you prefer not so intense one. Whenever we set it, I will be happy to send you a price quote. Please advice what type of hotels you are interested in- 3*, 4*, 5*?
Wishing you a great day and looking forward hearing from you.
Warmest regards, Simona
