The castle is by the river in the old town close to walking paths. There are some displays in the dungeon and upstairs, including a well done interactive display with a knight of yore. On an upper level is a room showing how the occupant...More

The cost of entrance wasn't high (about €1.40) but the exhibition is poor and the outside is way more interesting than the inside... My advice: Don't pay the fee to get inside, just admire the castle and the surroundings from the outside.

Most attractive from outside however my review is limited by the fact that I could not brave the narrow dark staircase, Braver souls will have the full experience.

The Kaunas kastle is located at the edge of the historical centre of Kaunas. It is a great place to take some nice photos, just next to it there is the river Neris and the Santakos park.

I'm aware that there isn't a lot left, but felt that the information was lacking - I think that there could have been more historical information given in booklets or something.

One of the towers is left, and it contains exhibits on the history of Kaunas and the fortress. Good. If you're slow, it takes 30 minutes to see it all.

OK there are bigger castles around but this one is quite cute in a war castle type of way, overlooking the river with plenty of places to have a picnic it is well worth a visit even if you don't go inside, we went in...More
