Old and small city centre so it will be enough a one day to visit all atractions. You should look out for a main "Laisvės" avenue, Vilniaus street ( there are al lot of pubs, bars and cafes) City Hall, Vytautas church, Kaunas Cathedral, Kaunas Castle.

Kaunas old town is in practice a single nice cobbled street and a single square both sided with cafes & restaurants. These are nice, yet not comparable with old quarters of same scale or much smaller European towns. Deviating from these exposes substantial neglect. Nearby park located at the confluence of Neman & Neris rivers compensates for the disappointment a... More

Kaunas old town is small, but really cozy. Can be a perfect for weekend trips. Plenty of coffee bars and restaurants, also clubs working during the night. Nice place for meeting friends, or family (even lonely) walk around and relax a bit. During winter time it's nicely decorated.

We were in Kaunas to catch the plane home and went down to the old town for the afternoon. Very relaxing place to wander about, drinking coffee, eating ice cream and testing the local beer. Great ambiance, we preferred it to Vilnius.

Kaunas old town is nice and compact. Quite small so in overall Kaunas is a town that might be good for a weekend visit. We stayed in Kaunas only one night on our roadtrip from Finland to Sirolo, Italy. In the restaurant Buon Giorno and in the hotel Algiro we got very friendly and smiling service.

The Kaunas old town is truly beautiful but quite small. Houses need renovating. Keep going forward and you'll reach a huge lawn and the river which is a great place to stroll, jog or cycle. The castle is located in the far end of old town.

In reviewing an 'old town' my rating is based on an overall feel. It's pleasant, clean and was a good way of spending a couple of hours having arrived at the airport. However if I'd majorly changed my itinerary to fit it in, I might have been disappointed. This may have been influenced by some buildings being covered with scaffolding.... More

Not as spectacular as many of the old towns of the Baltic Republics, but still a very nice old town. Plenty to see and do, as well as many places to eat.
