A beautiful surprise, this castle. While the big cities of Europe are crowded with tourists, this place is a oasis of tranquility and peace. The church is amazingly beautiful, with a unique marble work inside. Besides the castle, you will also enjoy a beautiful view from the top of the hill.

The castle grounds are absolutely worth visiting, the rest of town not. Gorgeous setting, perfect for a walk.

You can drive up to the castle and park nearby. It's cheap to visit too, especially if you're old. A nice visit to the cathedral and the little museum. My friend climbed the tower but it is a lot of steps. You can see the Castle from all over Nitra. ... and it's flood lit at night.

Very good location in the center of the city, close to some restaurants, shops, mall and the castle.

Make sure you do the tower tour, you need to book it when you first go into the castle, it doesn't take long but has great views from the top. There are over 100 steps to the top though but not too bad. We had a lovely guide she even gave us an English translation. The church inside is absolutely amazing, one of the most beautiful altars we have seen all gold & marble.

My partner and I travelled to Nitra from Bratislava via a bus costing (4.50 euro per person) for 1h 10mins. In Slovakia they cherish their history and take pride in their culture and language. Nitra is a city located in the Slovak Republic, it is not as recommended as other places in Slovakia but considering the fact it is the fourth largest city in Slovakia we thought it would be worth visiting. Nitra was first mentioned in 871 - 873 AD and is known as the place where the first Christian church was built in present-day Slovak territory. It is well worth the visit!
