77 years ago this synagogue served a community of 866 people that had been part of the Liptovsky Mikulas town community, 77 years ago the people were rounded up and sent to camps to be murdered, and for the past 77 years this building is standing proud in the towns center, important visit.

A very interesting place to visit especially for Israelis. Were very much surpried to see a huge synagogue in such a small place. It seems that there was a big Jewish community in the place.

This is a historical landmark and part of the Jewish heritage in the area. The building is run down but still beautiful with Hebrew inscriptions on the walls. It is not an active synagogue and is being used today for concerts. The entrance fee is cheap (2 Euro for adult, 1 euro for a child).

Although not kept very well- this is a fascinating structure, both outside and inside and a place to remember the jews who lived here before the holocaust and most of them were murdered. See the photos toi get the picture.

What a surprise this was. We see the haunting remains of a huge synagogue in a small Slovak town. Anyone interested in Jewish heritage and visiting this region of Slovakia should visit this synagogue. It only requires a short visit, but it's certainly worth it.

A synagogue in the Greek style (I think it is unique in this architectural style). The synagogue is not used today for prayer. The synagogue served the Jews in the city until the outbreak of World War II.
After the war (during the communist rule), the building was used to store goods in the nearby market). Today, sometimes concerts are organized here.

Not too many Synagogues survived the war in Slovakia, this one is one of the nicest ones around.

The building of the synagogue is a fascinating structure but is in a bad state. The Synagogue which was once so elegant, is in poor condition. Very little is known of the congregation who worshipped here but by the structure of the building outside and inside they must have been a big and important congregation who were eliminated in the Holocaust.

The building of this synagogue is amazing, outside and inside. I think that it is a must place to visit if you get to Liptovský Mikuláš and have a few minutes to spend. The history of this congregation isn't very well known, and it was indeed a great congregation. You can feel the exciting and beautiful history of this place, together with terrible feelings of what happened to these people, children and adults at the end. The stones of this synagogue really speak to you when you enter the main praying room. Tickets are very very cheap, that's not an issue.
I think that it's a must place to visit if you're close. I would like to thank the people who work hard to run this place a make sure this part of history will never be forgotten.
