Slavo is an incredible tour guide. He took us to really cool places in Kosice and told super interesting stories about Slovakia's history. We saw lots of incredible street art, went to a bomb shelter, ate ice cream, drank beer, and had the time of our lives. I cannot recommend this tour enough.

Slavo is very gentle and soft spoken, he loves his city and surely his cars.
Unfortunately the old skuda was out of
service, but the smurff blue one was as charming and fun.
If you find yourself in Kosice and you are into off the beaten path tours, then this is definitely the tour for you.

To mark 50th anniversary of occupation in Czechoslovakia 1968, my plan was to take a trip either to Kosice or Olomouc. Along with Prague, in both of these cities, there was the biggest resistance against the army tanks and military convoy. At the end, I went with Kosice, as it was also European capital of culture in 2013. As one of the sightseeing activities, I booked "Authentic Kosice" and their 4-hour DeLuxe tour. It was a money well spent! My guide Slavo, was very enthusiastic about this topic and full of knowledge connected with socialistic era and connection to present times. His marvellous vintage Skoda car, which he drove me in around is also a typical socialistic car and it was truly authentic experience to drive this communistic vehicle :) We have visited many places all connected with socialism, had a "ride"in very unique and funny paternoster (elevator without a doors), took a selfie with Lenin and seen the most peculiar suburb, Lunik IX, so called "Roma ghetto". At the end of the tour, we also managed to get a cold local pint and I also got the list full of tips for free spots to visit in historical downtown of the city. That came really helpful, as I did not have a chance to research a lot about the city itself. Thanks Slavo again! You are not only a regular guide, but a great storyteller! I could not recommend this tour highly enough.

We booked the four hour deluxe tour based on the great TripAdvisor reivews. The guide was very knowledgeable and took us to all kinds of places, but honestly, it wasn’t what we expected and for us, it was a disappointment.
It is not that the guide isn’t good, because he is. It’s because the content was all about the communist era, the buildings we were taken to were not interesting for us, we felt that it was way too long, and it was upsetting to be being taken to see the slums where the Roma live. The piles of garbage, the broken, decrepit buildings, the children, who were not in school, but playing in a trash strewn field with roaming dogs...all these sights were unsettling and certainly not what we expected to see!
And then there was the old Skoda car used for the tour! In this age of mandatory seatbelts and air bags, it was distressing to discover that none of the seatbelts were working. We were uncomfortable driving down highways without seatbelts, especially with all the traffic racing by.
We were taken to a field where two Communisf-era statues were being stored...one, a huge statue of Lenin. This was good for a quick photo op, but honestly, we didn’t take many photos during the tour, because we found most of it to be boring.
This tour was around $75 CAD each, so it was quite disappointing. We had expected more history expanding all centuries and not just the communist era.
For what it cost and the previous reviews, we had hoped to love this tour, but unfortunately, that was not the case. So be aware that you will not be taken to the historical sights in the old town square, the car is not equipped with safety equipment, and the content is mainly about the communist era, with the buildings that you are taken to being old and plain, and the Roma area can be distressing.

This was absolutely brilliant. Our guide/driver Slavo was both funny and informative and really helped us understand Kosice (and Slovakia in general), he took us to locations that we would never otherwise get to see, and even provided us with valuable local help, via email, with the rest of our trip. The car is awesome, and really helps to provide a true local atmosphere. I cannot recommend this enough, if all tours were like this then I would go on tours everywhere I go.

Slavo gave us an amazing tour, very informative and taking us to see some of the more hidden sights of the city. His English is superb and he has a wealth of historical and social knowledge of the area. It was well worth the money and I would advise anyone visiting the city to take the time to see the city through Slavo's eyes. Brilliant.

it was a great experiance. we went for a tour with Slavo and had a feeling like we were joing a long term friend showing us his hometown. he was even willing to extend the planned route to show us places he thouht, based on our conversation, we would like. it was a great, personal, take on the history of Kosice, but we learned a lot about the history of Slovakia. and it was all with Slavo's great sence of humor :-)

If you are visiting Košice this is an absolute must. Slavo is a perfect guide and shared a great wealth of knowledge about the history and the culture of both Košice and Slovakia.
This is no ordinary tour and we got to see some parts of Košice that others would not know about or dare to visit.
We were taken in a super cool car and shown some amazing places. The Stalin statue in a desolate out of town field was a real treat, as was Slavo's enthusiasm and charisma. Seriously cannot recommend this tour enough.
Make sure you book in advance and don't miss out on this absolute treat of a tour.

Slavo provides an engaging four hour tour with ample insights into post Socialist Kosice. There is a great deal to talk about and see so I recommend the longer tour. You'll be sure to enjoy the tour with this friendly and engaging Slovakian.

Hello—
I’ve been calling and sending emails requesting a tour from your company. No one has responded or answered the phone.
I am one person but willing to pay for two for the deluxe/communist/socialist tour. Is your company open and available for tourists at this time?
Please contact me by answering my emails. Thank you

I had some trouble reaching them at one time. It was because they had taken a tour group into the mountains where they had no internet or cell service. They were out for one week at that time. You can also try to send a message through their Facebook page where I was able to get a response at one time. They are on Facebook as authentickosice.
I hope this helps

Hi, I am interested in the "Full day- expedition to Eastern Slovakia" but I am just not quite sure how much is the cost I should expect as it is charged by distance and hours. No idea how far are the places and how many hours it would takes.
(FYI
I will have 1 full day available for the tour in early July. And I will be staying in hotel in Domasa area and I am travelling with my husband.)
