Beautiful nature with many opportunities for hiking. Definitely fewer tourists than on the North part of Chopok.

Beautiful scenery and across the landscape. Not the snow-capped peaks of the higher mountains, but still very pleasant.

If you want untouched nature, challenging mountain experience and beautiful landscape, cross Low Tatras from the West to the East, or vice versa. Total 4-5 days 90 km trek is challenging (8-10 hours walking daily), with overnight in chalets, but incredibly beautiful. No special equipment needed, but be ready for mountain weather even in the summer. Wind can be strong, sun burning and temperature can drop rapidly. Definitely stay in chalet Ďurková and Andrejcová, you will hardly find more beautiful places in the middle of nature to overnight. Absolutely recommended!

We spent less than a week in the Low Tatras. I am sharing some photos and the itinerary. More detailed trip descriptions and more photos of individual places on my TA profile.

The most beautiful for us was the hike to the Poľana saddle with the ridge to the east of the saddle. The Chopok-Ďumbier ridge was also beautiful, only this route was full of people.

* Saturday: Svätý Kríz wooden church near Liptovské Mikuláš

* Sunday: Orava Castle and a walk around Liptovský Mikuláš

* Monday: Hike from Dem. Doliny via Vrbické pleso and the Ostredok lookout point along the yellow path to the Demänovské svobody cave (it is closed this year), then along the green path through the Lúčky viewpoints + bus to DD.
The route is over 8 km and, according to mapy.cz, less than 3 hours.

* Tuesday: Cable car to Chopok, then ascent to Chopok and ridge to Ďumbier + descent to the cable car Kosodrevina - cable car museum + cable car Kosodrevina-Ch, Ch-Preihyba + walk to apartment DD
The route is over 10 km and according to mapy.cz over 4 hours + 2.5 km from Preihyby mine.

* Wednesday: Liptovský Ján + LM gallery + Stanišovská cave

* Thursday: Through the valley via Tři vody to Poľany saddle + Zakľuky ridge, Bôr, Havrany, Sinej saddle + descent to Dem. cave of freedom + bus to DD
The route is over 13 km and, according to mapy.cz, over 5 hours

We stayed in an apartment house in Demänovská dolina.
