The statue stands on one corner of the main Square in the old town outside Cafe Mayer.

Schöner Náci was the son of a shoemaker and grandson of a famous clown, also Ignác Lamár, and was inspired by the latter's example to bring happiness to the streets of the city. He walked around the Old Town and in particular the stretch from Michael's Gate to the river, in top hat and tails, greeting women with the words, “I kiss your hand” in German, Hungarian and Slovak. He received free food from several of the city's cafes, and supported himself with occasional cleaning work.

Plenty of opportunity to take a fun picture with it when it is not too crowded.

This sculpture stands in tribute to Schöner Náci, who was inspired to make people happy by walking around Bratislava Old Town wearing tailcoat and a top hat. It’s said that he would greet women with the words, “I kiss your hand” in German, Hungarian and Slovak.

This sculpture depicts Náci as a larger than life sculpture wearing the aforementioned attire and tipping his top hat to passersby. It’s a popular sculpture and there’s often a queue for people wanting selfies.

What a wonderful tribute to unique individual.

The Schone Naci statue is one of several quirky statues that you can find around the city center in Bratislava. The statue is an older gentleman lifting his hat to greet you as you pass by.

It seems Schone Naci, the grandson of a famous clown, gained a bit of local fame due to his habit of wondering the streets, offering words of kindness, general pleasantries and even flowers to the ladies he would pass. Legends suggest that he did this for over a forty year period. Of further interest, while being well-dressed with top hat, it seems he was actually quite poor and that he received food from some local cafes, perhaps in exchange for his constant efforts to cheer people on the streets

This statue is quite near the Cumil "peeper" statue. Others in the area include the Paparrazi statue, the Hans Christian Anderson statue and probably the most famous, the Napoleon's Army Solder statue, which hangs over the park bench in the main square.

These are fun discoveries in Bratislava, worth making a bit of time for. We'd make an effort to find them all again if visiting Bratislava in the future.

This guy was in love with a woman who sadly did not love him back. This made him so disappointed that he went mad and was often seen giving flowers to random women he met in the streets. He always wore a hat– which you can also see on the statue. He greets people on the Sedlárska street.

You’ll end up taking photos next to many statues in Bratislava - they are clever and delightful. You don’t need to seek them out as they present themselves while walking through the Old Town. Fun.
