We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here and felt it was worth the entrance fee (6 euros). All exhibits have perfect English descriptions and there is also optional audio guides which we didn't use (additional cost). Yes as some have mentioned on other reviews there is the usual museum paraphernalia, which is not to everyone's taste but there is a wide... More

This museum currently hosts a very informative (and somewhat scary) torture exhibition. The museum in its totality is quite interesting, especially the lady wardens of the place who will tell you what to view next. We went because of the torture exhibition, and apart from the climb to the tower, was its most interesting part.

Loads to see and explore, climb the tower and look over the city, don't forget the torture museum down stairs ! as usual no photos or cafe....but cloakrooms and toilets. Probably the best value in town.

So as the title of this review suggests, the best part of this museum was the tower, where climbing to the top gives you an excellent view of the old town, castle and beyond. We found the content of the museum occasionally quite random and not especially interesting, but over all there was a wealth of information to take in... More

As it was raining in Old Town, we went into this place to get some respite. We learn from the exhibition rooms of the history of Bratislava., torture devices, antique weapons and armour, paintings , old town dungeons. Indeed an eye opener.

We were there half an hour before closing. They couldn't be bothered to sell us a ticket because we might keep them from getting home. It not a huge place, we were sorry to have missed it. They don't quite understand tourism yet.

Large, interesting museum. €5 entry very reasonable. Easy to while away a couple of hours here. Great views from the Tower. Staff particularly gruff. No smiles at all, grumbles when we asked for the audio headsets. Follow you around very closely not speaking or engaging in any way.

This museum is such a great introduction for you to learn about Bratislava. It's located centrally. I learned a lot about the history of Czech and Slovakia from the artifacts displayed in the museum. The collection is great, but I found the layout was not very chronological, so I only give 4 dots instead of 5. My favourite is the view... More

The City Museum was situated in the Old Town Square. Entrance fee was required and there were lots to see inside. Furthermore you could climb to the top to have panoramic views over the whole town. Worth to visit if you have time.
