- MaryannF650Clarksville, Tennessee1,450 contributionsBeautiful and worth a visitWe had an interesting walking tour of Hstoric Old Town. The Old Town Hall is a complex of buildings from the 14 th century in the Old Town of Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. It is the oldest city hall in the country and it is one of the oldest stone buildings still standing in Bratislava. The outlook from the top of the Old Town Hall tower, built approximately in 1370, offers a round view of Bratislava Old Town and its environs. It is easily recognizable by its colorful tiled roof. Beautiful Gothic architecture for an amazing photo op. We enjoyed this incredible easy walking tour.Visited July 2023Traveled with friendsWritten December 16, 2023
- Beaten TrackLondon, United Kingdom99 contributionsLots to do and good value10 euros is really good value. You get access to the entire Town Hall and also the museum next door in the Primatial Palace. Combined you get a broad sweep of Slovakian history from the Middle Ages to the Soviet era. The highlight is the bell tower and the office half-way up which is beautifully preserved and then the view from the top. English translations are pretty poor... so you're mainly looking at stuff.Visited January 2024Traveled soloWritten January 28, 2024

- Coryy20Port of Spain, Trinidad6,366 contributionsThe best meet up spot on the main squareOld Town Hall is just okay, for what I've seen in other cities similar to Bratislava ,there is nothing too fascinating about it. It is at the main Square in Old Town and you have the option to clmb to its top to get a better view of Old Town. One cannot help to notice it as soon as they get to the Christmas Market in the Old Town, main square. You can't miss the yellow, box-like tower with the green roof.Visited December 2023Traveled soloWritten June 29, 2024
- sunsuenycNew York City, New York33 contributionsGreat views and nice museumThe Old Town Hall houses a museum, and the ability to have an elevated view of the old town area. The museum is very informative about the history of Bratislava, if that interests you. Many things to see and learn about. The best part of this visit though is the view from the top of the tower. There's an outside area where you can view the surroundings from all sides of the tower. Highly recommend adding this to your visit to Bratislava.Visited September 2024Traveled soloWritten September 20, 2024

Old Town Hal lis a beautiful building in the typical Slovak medieval style - romantic and fairytale. It is actively involved in the cultural life of the city. A craft festival was held near it in September 2019, including for people with physical and intellectual disabilities

This old building is quite nice. It’s a museum inside and you can walk to the top of the clock tower and look over the whole town. It takes a little time unless you are in great shape and it was hot. But well worth the hike up the stairs. A nice spot.

Really enjoyed this place. They have a city history museum that I did not have time to finish since it seemed to go on and on. Very interesting museum to visit and well worth the admission fee. You can also climb the clock tower which overlooks the town square.

If you climb the clock tower, you can learn a bit about the history of Bratislava with some exhibitions inside. The view at the top speaks itself. It is a must visit attraction on a sunny day.
There is also a museum attached to the clock tower which we didn’t pay for but it looked interesting. I will probably try it out if I return to Bratislava.

Old Town was fantastic and fun. So many good restaurants and beautiful buildings. The site of the Christmas Market and Christmas Tree. We thoroughly enjoyed Old Town and wish we had a few more days to repeat some of our favorite places to eat and drink.

Great views of the square and city from the top of the Old City Hall Tower. 3 euros to climb the tower (1.5 for seniors). Note the cannon ball embedded in the side of the hall, a remnant of Napoleon’s failed siege of Bratislava.

Strange question but I noticed the spiral stairs to climb the tower are quite narrow - are there separate stairs to come down or do people have to squeeze past each other?

I don't recall exactly, but it wasn't very much. I think it was about $10USD for two adults.

We visited Bratislava last September, whilst we were on a river cruise, we could not visit the castle as there was a European conference taking place, but there was some very interesting lacemaking going on in the central courtyard.
The costumes of the people making the lace were beautiful and I took quite a few pictures there, my favourite pictures were of Hanka and Eliska, if they would like to have a copy I would be happy to send them on.
We also saw some craft stalls and some folk dancing going on, which was really interesting and entertaining, this was on the way back down to the river to get back on board the river cruise ship. The date we were there was the 3rd September 2016, Is this an annual event or was this just a special one off event?
