Painted in vivid green Starý Most ( Old Bridge ) is a bridge that spans the wonderful River Danube.
460 metres long ,it's now a pedestrian and tram bridge ,when I first started visiting this beautiful city around about 2006 you could get the bus across or drive but they closed the bridge in 2009 for car & bus traffic and then in 2013 closed the bridge for pedestrians, at the time of its closure it was the oldest still standing bridge in Bratislava, December 2015 the bridge was deconstructed and reconstructed which saw the " new " bridge reopened for trams ,pedestrians and cyclists as part of a new tram track to Petržalka.
A beautiful bridge, well worth checking out if your wandering along the riverbank of the River Danube or crossing on foot or by tram.

Very nice bridge and a nice walk too, from one side of Danube to another. You can visit a restaurant on boat on Petrzalka side as well.

I worked in Bratislava for 10 years and remember the old bridge which I believe was for the trains but now trams cross the Danube and the bridge has been fully refurbished with a wide walkway and cycle lane. The bridge provides brilliant views of the Danube and City centre and river boats add to the interest. Located just minutes walk from the city centre historic centre. Well worth a visit.!!

This is a good bridge to walk across because there's no cars and there are set stops along the way, where you can sit on the benches and enjoy the view. I noticed that some locals eat their lunch here - with the views sweeping across the Danube, why not?
Although a little windy, you can see the other two bridges either side of this one (Apollo & New Bridges - see pics) plus of course watching boats up and down the Danube is quite relaxing. I liked watching the trams coming out of the old bridge (see pics) because as this bridge's design is like a tunnel in a hexagon shape, when the trams come throttling through it looks almost like a time tunnel - particularly as the trams are the new ones (see pics).

The Stary Most is a nice walk when in the old town area of Bratislava. It provides a brilliant vantage point for some photos day / night of the old town, castle and the Donau river.
Do be cautious mind as the trams use the bridge as well! There is more than enough room but can certainly make you jump when you forget and one goes by you when looking down the lens of your camera...

Nice bridge just to walk to take a nice pictures from Bratislava’s panorama (day and night) . On old city side, during summer there is nice beach bar with beach ... . Also good walk is to make round trip via both bridges, old and new.

Impressive bridge crossing Donau river. It is possible to cross the bridge as a pedestrian. Nice views towards the old town. Tram uses same bridge.

Enjoy walking around cities taking in the atmosphere? If in Bratislava and you want to take a stroll over to Petrzalka, Stary Most is probably the best way to do it. This recently reconstructed bridge carries only trams, cyclists and pedestrians, and so you are not troubled by the traffic noise and fumes you will have on the other bridges.
There are good photo opportunities.
It is roughly half a kilometre each way just on the bridge itself, and so wear comfortable shoes, but then you would be if you are keen on walking!
