If you are in Tata, you should visit this place.
It was recently reopened, after the renovation, and it is worth it.
If I am not mistaken they offer twice a day guided tours but you can explore the rooms on your own.
If you want to get as much information as possible about the rooms and the artifacts, you can download the Visual Guide app to your smartphone and use it as a guide. It is very interactive and informative.
Long story short, this is a very nice place and worth visiting.
In my opinion, it is better than Fertőd, the more known Esterházy Castle.

Nicely renovated little Castel at the lake shore, interesting exhibition and a few rooms with furnitures. Not too be missed in Tata.

My last visit to Eszterháza was over ten years ago, so I hoped more restoration work would have been completed since that time. I was not disappointed. Although only a few rooms can be visited, they are stunning, and worth the visit. Meticulous restoration has been carried out and is still continuing.
Though it is advertised that you can choose whether to go round alone or join a group, we were told we could only join a group (no explanation was given). Since the group consisted of only 5 people, it was well worth it (this was in Hungarian - the one English-speaker had an audio guide). Our friendly guide actually spoke excellent English and was extremely attentive and willing to answer all our questions in either language.
A number of new rooms/exhibitions are apparently opening now in the summer of 2023 - I'm sure we will return to see them.
