What a building

You can see it from the motorway as Szeged is on the great plain. This remarkable building has a square in front that is home for the a famous summer festival.

Lovely large Cathoic Church on Dom Square. Consecrated in 1930 it is a mixture of Roman, Gothic, and eastern Byzantine architecture. Has a pipe organ with 9040 pipes, image of Madonna dressed in shepherd's felt cloak and slippers. This information I garnered from the web because there in NO information available in the church. Entrance is however free. worth taking... More

The church is just beautifull! One of the most interesting in Hungary so a must visit! The exterior is realy special, so I had to walk all around it and take photographs from different angles.

Remarkable Cathedral, dominating the surroundings. Not so ancient, but great fit to the adjacent square. Astonishing exterior in terms of colour composition of the materials used. No.1 thing to see in Szeged. Highest recommendations. Must see.

I love everything about Szeged. I am amazed so few people step outside of Budapest to see a really interesting town with Art Deco like touches. This church is HUGE inside, there is tons to see, you just have to be respectful as you go in not to disturb the worshippers.

The Votive Church and its neighboring university are used as a backdrop for many plays and other types of performances. A stage and bleachers are almost a permanent fixture. A great landmark and a wonderful area to walk in close proximity to the Tisza River. If you like architecture, you will love this church.

Interior actually closed due to renovation. Outside it looks mighty and dominates the whole quarter.

Like other reviews construction is taken place at the moment but don't let that distract you from visiting more impressive from the inside photos can be taken but will look great once construction work is completed.

This was really an impressive architecture, but it was undergoing major reconstruction both outside and inside. If you are making a trip to Szeged for this, you might feel a little disappointed because of the construction (but Szeged is still a beautiful place). But if you are in Szeged anyway, don't miss it. The interior was very nice too (whatever... More

At present doing huge really deep excavations . Inside a tranquil retreat , lovely paintings on the wall . What fascinated me was the medieval looking contraption, used to reach the high ceilings, wooden with wheel and a scary looking extendable ladder ,,, not for the feint hearted.
