The synagogue of Szeged is probably the most beautiful one I've ever seen. It is not hard to find and I suggest to ask for guide because the building has a long history what worth to learn.

The synagogue is open 9-12 and 1-5 every day except Saturdays and Jewish Holidays. Entrance fee is 500 HUF for adults and 250 HUF for children. In addition it is possible to light up the interior for another 100 HUF placed in slot to right at back of synagogue. There are 2 pages of explanatory notes in English before going... More

You have to go knock on the door of a flat around the corner for the entrance. It is a bit tricky to make contact with the right person but generally people in the neighborhood can help you find the right person who can open the doors for you. It is definitely worth the trouble because the inside is breathtaking.... More

Good thing to visit in Szeged. Go in the evening or in the morning, not at the noon. It's in the central part of the city.

True hidden gem of the city. Splendid building, great from the outside, magnificent from the inside. Cheap entrance, must visit. Highest recommendations.

The szeged synagogue is a must see place when arriving to szeged. Probably one of the most beautiful synagogue in the whole world. We was very disappointed that it was unpossible to visit since its open only between 9-12.

It's a huge synagogue, almost like dohany synagogue in Budapest. Worth to visit. You have to pay before the entrance, not a lot.

The synagogue is easy to find. Do not become bewildered on regard to its exterior which looks slightly neglected. Inside it is a feast of colours and dignity and in parallel a testimony of a more or less bygone era. Photographies are allowed. Do not trust on the opening hours as given on their website. According to their signposting at... More
