This bridge was built for Franz Joseph after the floath and its role was to connect Townhouse and City Hall. Stories tell that the name derives from the sighs of people who were passing the bridge to pay taxes.

It is located at Szechenyi ter 15. In front of Townhouse and City Hall is beautiful park where you can rest before you continue walking through this beutiful city.

This is a nice piece of architecture, very romantic too. The view is worth to go there. Whenever I visit this town, go to see as many bridges as I can as it's my passion.

The Bridge of Sighs is eerily reminiscent of the structure of the same name located in Venice, just behind the Piazza San Marco. The Bridge in Szeged connects the Townhouse to City Hall and was commissioned by the emperor Franz Joseph after the great Flood of 1879. The Townhouse and City Hall are located on the Northern side of Szechenyi square, in the heart of the city. Whether the name comes (as local legend states) from the locals kissing their tax dollars good-bye, or whether this was related to some romantic event in the Emperor's life, remains unknown.

Same bridge between two building. Looks like in Venice without canal. Under the bridge is a small street from the Széchenyi square

Well the only thing one can do is look from outside. This bridge was built in 1883 after the one of the same name in Venice. When Franz Joszef came to see how Szeged was rebuilt after the terrible flood the city's inhabitants suffered ( only 265 houses remained)
It now connects the House of Labors and the City Hall by Széchenyi Ter -square-
It is exquisite and romantic looking ( to me)

This is a nice little bridge and makes you wonder what the purpose of it was, nefarious of grandeur. Whatever it’s concept, it’s worth a visit.
I wouldn’t say it’s anything as grand as the real bridge of sighs in Venice buts it’s not bad.
There’s also another bridge of sighs seldom mentioned but located in my beautiful home city of Oxford.
Now that’s something to see with some of the buildings around it dating back hundreds of years.

The small bridge at the City hall reminds everybody to the similar bridge in Venice. This one is a little bit smaller and the history behind it not the tragic as in Venice.

It reminds me a little about a similar bridge in Venice. It's in a less beautiful place. I'm sorry we can not visit the bridge.
