Fire Tower (Tuztorony) / Firewatch Tower located at the northern end of the Main Square is the symbol of Sopron. The tower acquired its present form with its Baroque. Today is the famous place tourist visit for this city.

English version is below. A torony és a museum a kiállítással nagyon érdekes volt számunkra. A gyerkőcök is imádták a lépcsőzést. :-) The tower with the museum and the exhibition was very interesting for us. We liked it. The kids loved the stairs. :-)

Besides the symbol of the city, the view is nice and interesting. You get back to past centuries and saw also (at least us) Alps from there, old city, hill with the mill, etc.... really recommendable

The balcony at the top was closed when we visited, so we were unable to get a good view of the city. The tower was still an interesting visit and worth a quarter hour to climb up and learn about the history.

Sopron's Fire Tower was fascinating. We learnt that the tower was built on ruins of Roman walls and it is the symbol of the town. The spire and tower were reconstructed after a fire in 1676. Ironic since the tower previously served as a fire...More

If you visit Sopron you must go up to the Fire Tower. Amazing 360 degree view. At night it looks like a lighthouse. Don't miss it.

The walk up the old staircase is worth the admission of a bit less than $2. An incredibly narrow staircase leans to a 360 degree balcony overlooking the old City. Tip - don't miss going down to see the Roman ruin and Spice Road. Free

Firewatch Tower is the symbol of the city of Sopron. Its cylindrical lower part was built on the remains of the Roman town wall and served as the north tower of the city from the 13th century onwards.

Sopron has done a lot to improve its appearance in the last 10 years. The Fire Tower now stands out as a landmark. You can climb up to see the rest of the city center for 4€ per person. Do not be surprised if you...More

We stayed in a hotel with secure parking and did not see public car parks. The streets are mainly narrow so off-road parking could be a problem. It is a lovely place, and there must be parking but I can't help tell you... More
